Cornell Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

@IndirectProofs

I concur. It look like Hogwarts. XD

There are lots of awesome libraries on this list, for the bibliophiles.

@OwlOfAthena exactly! I love the color tones and just the feeling of looking at it! Now I want to get into Cornell more than ever! :slight_smile:

@JellyPeeps thank you for the link. Next time I’ll apply to school based off of the pictures of the libraries! Really though, the library matters! :slight_smile:

@IndirectProofs I adore libraries. Although you can’t really base an application on a library, having an amazing library REALLY helps in life.

@transferrrrrrcc I’m sorry, but the way you’re writing and depicting your messages make it seem like you’re being passive aggressive against people with the transfer option. Just cause we’re guaranteed admissions as long as we meet requirements doesn’t make us any different from you guys. Yeah you guys don’t know for sure whether you’re getting in or not, but that doesn’t give you the right to say “if you think you’re not guaranteed as a transfer option, you should consider withdrawing your application”. I just think that’s just really inappropriate and immature to say, and I totally agree with what @racecarava said. Even with guaranteed admissions, there’s no certainty whether any of the transfer options will actually take the offer. After decisions are released, both transfer options and regular transfers are exactly the same, so I hope you change your attitude and mentality towards transfer options.

You are right, but you are still lucky :smile:

@IndirectProofs we’ve earned it through our HS and first year applications, I don’t know if luck has anything to do with it. But i totally agree with you about the libraries, it would be awesome to study on such a big and vibrant campus!

I didn’t go to high school. So, I wouldn’t have known. I don’t know anything about high school or AP classes or how that works or how much work it is.

But I imagine it is hard work.

@enviscimath11 hey you totally misquoted me. i don’t think you understand my sentiment. Im sorry that I came off like that and that you thought that i automatically dislike people with the option because I understand how hard people work for grades and schools. No one here is an exception. I’m just saying you guys should relax. take a breather and just take pride in the fact that you’ll be at Cornell soon.

unless i am misunderstanding something about guaranteed transfers that fulfill ALL pre reqs and EXCEED the gpa req? If so then sorry! my bad. i sincerely apologize. If not, then please relax. its good for your health. Either way (GT and regular), good luck and I hope we all get in. Never have I ever said otherwise.

If you are a GT and are missing a course cornell will more than likely (if not absolutely) accept you. They may require that you take the courses necessary to your degree over the summer prior to your matriculation. If you have not met the GPA required (kinda hard not to but whatever) they will still consider you as a transfer applicant but they reserve the right to reject you. Last year’s thread was 95% regular transfer lol.

@parkcentral yes, thank you.

now back to regularly scheduled fin aid speculation over initiated vs ordered transcripts and lamenting over long wait times!!

I know how you feel @transferrrrrrcc. The waiting is really hard for me. It seems like it takes so long to get a decision and it’s hard when you think about it everyday. I keep having dreams that I’m accepted and they seem so real. Then I wake up Lol.

I feel fortunate in that I got into a great school that I really like, because now the waiting on these decisions doesn’t seem so hard. If I am accepted I have to choose between great and even better. But I am also waiting on financial aid, scholarships, and that makes me really stressed now. Like… I am in, but can I afford to go??

i visited my backup school this past weekend, UMN. being from california i was terrified of the snow and how cold it would be and how big campus is but i loved it so much! i’m so grateful to be accepted - i met with the person who actually reviewed my application and accepted me and the ChemEng program there is very rigorous and not easy to get into. seeing as I am an OOS applicant and they are public they obviously gave me ZIP so here’s to hoping!

can you believe there’s only a month or two left before we know about all our schools?

@transferrrrrrcc That is a good school. Their Chemistry program is tied with Johns Hopkins. I was accepted at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor which is not only a great school but also close to my house. If this is the school I end up going to, I won’t have to move. But, on that note, I love MN and the area you are looking at is beautiful during Summer. :smiley:

I just reread that and I definitely didn’t mean for that to sound like good/great. I just tend to get repetitive with my good this and that and was trying to spice it up.

Hey guys,

If I still have the high school trancript missing from my Cornell checklist, is it time to call them? I think they said that they really hate it when students call, but I don’t know if now ithe right time?
