@Treedophile Hi fellow international student! Can I know which major did you apply to and your stat? I’m still waiting for mine :’(
The waves are always Tuesdays.
Any Dyson decisions at all???
@enviscimath11 I find it quite ridiculous that someone cannot say “reject week.” Nor do you have any right to determine what is right, or wrong in this thread. It is a public thread. If a week is commonly known as carrying more rejections than acceptances, it would be reasonable to call it a “rejection week.” No one is claiming it will be ALL rejections. And if the statistical odds of being rejected scares someone, then I don’t know what they expected from an Ivy League university. Absolutely no need to police others on their word combinations.
@eviscimath11 I actually admire you stepping up and showing leadership. @AQArgo it is hurtful to say rejection week. You are right about the statistical odds, but they speak for themselves, we don’t have to speak for them.
The person who concluded this week to be a “rejection week” is salty AF??
@IndirectProofs Rejection is what the vast majority call it when you are not accepted. Should we be more polite in saying “Declined.” Or “Not Accepted.” Maybe you want to, because you are hurt by that specific word, “Rejection.” But, because everyone currently calls it being “rejected” I have absolutely no problem in calling a statistically rejection-leaning week, a “rejection week.” Policing words is something which is hurting our society, and it’s fueled with comments like the ones you have said.
Does anyone know how long the release will last? To the June??
Now, @IndirectProofs This is a Cornell Transfer Thread, not a debate. So let’s just end this. I just wanted to quickly step in, because we shouldn’t be shutting members down simply because of a non-purposeful choice of words.
@AQArgo I get what you are saying, but is it really necessary to go out of our way to say, “rejection week” when we don’t really know if those people are getting rejected? I’m just saying that we don’t have to go out of our way to say that.
@AQArgo okay fine.
@AQArgo I’ll just end at the fact that you’re being a hypocrite by shutting down what I said and “policing other people”.
@AQArgo True- Freedom of Speech! I have no argument with you calling this “Rejection Week” which actually proved true. Those of us who were not rejected have lot of hope. No need for these ridiculous ‘safe spaces’. Let people express themselves and get tough skin!
Let’s just talk about Cornell now!
My son applied to Dyson. Non TO. Didn’t hear anything today.
@ranger1 thanx for the follow-up. I really don’t think they’ve reviewed any Dyson non-TO’s. Only one person has claimed an acceptance, thus far (last week), and, if true, that person would be the outlier. It seems the admissions office is not following last year’s pattern- unless someone has additional info.
Dyson Non-TO, still nothing on my end either @PBMAX1
Does anyone know what the transfer acceptance rate is around for psych majors? I’m a non-TO psych major from a top 40 private and I’m trying to gauge if not hearing back this week is good or not. I had everything turned in one week from the due date, but here’s my stats:
GPA: 3.68( Have gotten straight A’s since after my first quarter, got a C+ and a B in non major courses, but it was the first quarter of college and I was adjusting, would have a 3.97 without those)
Major: psych
Attending a top 40 private university (made deans list too)
ECs: not many, I work to pay my own bills so don’t have a ton, but did do independent research where I wrote a paper on the evolutionary origin of a mental disorder along with a potential treatment.
Letter of Rec: Decent? I got it from a CC chem professor
Essays: Pretty decent I think. I’ve been following one of their psych professors work for years so wrote about that as well as my determination to become an OB.
Dyson non-TO. Haven’t heard back yet!
@singer99, @Optimistic_22 thanx for the follow-up- maybe next week.
