Not sure if TO is counted as “admitted” in the previous year or not. They may not be part of the “transfer” calculations since they are already admitted subject to a pretty low bar. Good question, maybe someone else can shed light
Yes, you are totally right schools accept more than they enroll, this is well known. But my point to bagl12 was that the fact that Cornell has accepted more than usual this year is not relevant to what will happen to transfers, because what is relevant is what is Cornell’s yield on those admits.
Yes, hoping someone else can let me know because I’ve read TO inflates the acceptance rate for transfers but seems like speculation
I would not expect TOs to be counted as admitted in the previous year’s count. They’re not admitted students until they meet the requirements the following year.
No one really knows what the split is between regular transfer applicants and TO applicants. The other wrinkle is that there are nine colleges within Cornell. Some have many TOs and some have none. Each school has their own admit rate for transfers.
Hey, everyone just wanted to check and see how everyone is doing! We seem to have about a week left before decisions start rolling in. I just finished crying my eyes out watching college acceptance videos I am praying so much as well!
Anyways, I feel hopeful, excited, nervous, and all the emotions. How are you all feeling?
Nervous, but hopeful. …
I feel like I can’t focus on schoolwork because I’m so anxious and excited
This is why I am happy for Spring Break. I am trying to keep it cool and do a million things to stay patient. I even opened up portals a few times
WE GOT THIS
Just for some perspective, my daughter did not receive her Cornell TO notification (acceptance, whew) last year until May 2nd. So, if you don’t get a notification immediately, don’t lose hope.
Thank youu! We appreciate your insight and info : )
Thank you! What school did get the TO for?
Brooks School of Public Policy
Rlly hope most of us find out on April 15th
Same! Wishing well for all of us!
Why do y guys want to transfer? More than just academics anyone?
Just a question does anyone know if any TO’s ended getting rejected?
Other than the HumEc disaster I read about last year - terrible
I want to transfer to Cornell for the environment and because of my major ofc. I am a HUGE NATURE person. I love the vibe of the campus and my college in particular. I also eat differently because of medical reasons and they take good care of students with different conditions. Also, I love the “any person, any study” theme they have. As someone who is older applying and applied overseas first, other campuses are SO STRICT. Like if you were homeschooled or went to online school in high school, it’s an immediate rejection. After my own struggles, it felt nice to talk to Cornell’s staff and attend sessions with them. They make you feel comfortable no matter what your background is. They made me feel like I had a chance and I took that chance. No matter what happens, I am happy to even have a chance to apply. I wasn’t afforded that overseas even after I took all the exams and completed the process. That’s amazing to me. I really hope I get in though!
hi guys! this is actually my second time applying to cornell transfer, i got rejected last year in may, so i am trying to be hopeful and get in this year, cornell is my dream school! i am applying for college of arts and sciences. good luck to everyone!
Let’s do this!! You have grit and resilience! I am praying for us to get in!
