The Thread for Cornell Class of 2028 Waitlist Discussion.
After March 28, 2024, there comes the need for sharing information about Cornell Waitlist among folks who are still interested in attending Cornell and elected to stay on the waitlist.
This is last year’s stats. Chance to get off the waitlist is overall 5.87%, but every school’s number may be different.
do they publish numbers for each college? is it easier to get off for HUMEC than CAS or engineering? My guess is probably.
I didn’t see any officially published school level stats, but I think it is reasonable that people ask the school admissions offices for their school specific stats.
It looks like in the past years, there were more people admitted off CHE waitlists than from CAS, COE, or AAP ones.
Do you have ILR numbers by any chance?
No, but I think ILR admissions office can give you some update if you (or your counselor) ask them. I’ll ask AAP next week.
Thanks for letting me know I can ask! Do they give hard numbers on waitlist spots and acceptances per school?
They should be able to give you some numbers from past years, from which you can try to imagine how this year would look like.
Hi everyone! I’m hear to tell you of two girls we know, one for class of 2022 and another from 2023 both for ILR school that got off the wait list. So there’s definitely some hope here. As always you should still commit to a college and move forward, but you still have a shot. Good luck!
Architecture’s yield rate is always around 80%. It’s tough so I’m not sure how many spaces will become available eventually this year. Will try to figure out.
By any chance do you know if ILR waitlists less/accepts more of it relatively?
I honestly don’t know. I’m sorry.
No worries! Thanks for the information about the two you know
I’ve heard about ILR waitlists getting TO offers, and haven’t seen much about ILR and nothing about waitlist rejects. Does anyone know if all ILR waitlists are given either an admit or a TO?
I hopped over here because I thought I could try to answer questions because my son got off of the waitlist last year for CAS. I would recommend looking at the previous boards. There is a lot of info there. I found that even though the number of students admitted from waitlist year to year varies, the process that each school follows is pretty consistent.
@boysmomx3
When was he contacted about getting off the waitlist?
CAS has a pretty set system. He got an email on a Friday (4/28?) asking if he would accept an offer if one was given to him. He said yes and got his offer 5/2. They send them out in waves and if you get the “would you” email, usually an offer is coming.
Let me point out that this is the system CAS uses. Every Cornell school is different.
If anyone have any idea of the probability of getting off ILR waitlist, please let me know. I really need some reassurance at this moment.
Cornell admitted less people from the ED round this year. So arguably, there could be more turnovers in the RD round, creating more spaces for the waitlist. Do you agree, or disagree? why?
