Yup. Mr. had a haircut on Sunday, and then we went to brunch at a local waterfront eatery. It was a great Sunday outing.
That said, we continue to eat out but avoid cold foods like salads. Chances are higher that those foods would have germs. Short rib or pan-fried fish - not so much.
And BTW, did anyone mention a horrible listeria outbreak linked to mushrooms? Sickened a number of people… 4 dead.
I just saw that an inpatient at U of Michigan Healthsystem is positive for Corona as of a posting a couple of hours ago. Glad that @romanigypsyeyes posted after that point - and not as an inpatient!
I mixed up the threads and posted a few things we’re doing on the other one. Oh well. I’ll leave them there - not that I would know how to move them anyway and double posting seems odd.
I just went to the grocery store (Madison, Wisconsin). It was very busy, but nothing I needed was out. (I didn’t check for hand sanitizer; I have the ability to wash my hands whenever I need to so I’m leaving the HS for other folks.) Plenty of TP, plenty of bleach on the shelves.
My sister just let me know that the University of Vermont has asked students and staff to not return to campus next week, when spring break ends.
I haven’t been able to find hand sanitizer. No rubbing alcohol (thank goodness no shortage of the other kind)and aloe vera to make my own either. I have bleach, what can I do with that?
You’re not going to get the disease from the food. You’re going to get it from the table. You’re going to get it from the doorknob. You’ll get it from the person at the next table.
They said last week they only have 10% of what they need. Then they corrected the next day and said only 1%. Obviously people haven’t been doing their jobs. Some masks were reported to be expired as well.
For those of you looking for hand sanitizer, a good thorough hand washing with soap does the trick.
Yep, plenty of information out there about how lots of people in China relied on food delivery to their home during the quarantine. That seems like a more sensible approach if you don’t want to cook.
Of course I know that, but I have been traveling and just need something that I could maybe wipe down surfaces in hotels, remotes, door handles etc. Would a diluted bleach solution work for those things? And is it possible to make hand sanitizer with bleach? I have some wipes that I got from market basket a few days ago but nothing else.
See my comment on listeria. As you might have heard, the FDA suspended all inspections of imported foods and more. Yes, salads can be the source of problems - I am not worried about tabletops or door handles. I wash my hands often and carry some SaniHands (last resort).
Scheduled to see my PCP tomorrow for a routine annual check up. Just got an at-home screening call from his office asking me if I had been in contact with someone who has been outside the US in the last 30 days (I have, but my contact was in a country with very, very few reported CV cases) ) and if I have a fever (no), a cough (yes, I have season allergies and the pollen count is sky high on the city’s air quality website). I told them I’ve had seasonal allergies for decades, including a cough, runny nose and goopy eyes.
The office is requiring me to wear a surgical mask in order to be allowed to enter the building.
Both my Ds are outraged. One because she’s on the front line for handling CV cases and this is a violation of CDC recommendations. The other because she’s a surgeon at hospital where they are cancelling surgeries because they don’t have enough surgical masks for the doctors.
