<p>Anyone know if its possible to advance in subjects (math, etc…) over the summer? I need to start BC calc by my senior year to do a ton of cool stuff at Andover.</p>
<p>I assume you will go to Andover in the fall. It would be best to discuss this with the Dean of Academics at Andover.</p>
<p>Absolutely, that’s your starting point. But be sure to recognize the distinction between course credit and placement. It doesn’t sound like you want more math credit. What it sounds like you’re looking for is placement in a more advanced math course. Whether Andover gives you credit for the summer course would seem to be less important than having Andover recognize that summer experience in terms of satisfying prerequisites to enrolling in other classes.</p>
<p>I say this because I know, from experience, that it’s possible for two people in conversation to needlessly avoid a meeting of the minds as a result of misused words. The most important thing you can do is spell out your objective: getting into a certain course by a certain date. From there you can brainstorm your various options, including summer classes that may not be for credit, that can get you where you want to go.</p>
