course selection for 11th grade in India

My niece wants to study biomedical enigineering in US and is planning to attend US university after her 12th grade. Should she take Biology or vocational subjects for her 11trh grade course selection? Vocational subjects are computer and electrical enigneering. She has done her ICSE and has scored very well and her 11th and 12th grade Biology is going to be repetition of what she has already studied in school so far.

If its engineering just go in for science bio or no bio doesnt matter.

I would recommend taking bio it helps both in the long run, although you may not need it for admission purposes.

I don’t know how ISC works, but if she wants to go with CBSE she should take Math, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. XI and XII Biology is definitely not a repetition of the Biology covered in previous classes.

Take computers instead of Bio if you want ;)

Acutally I never understood even Class IX bio :D

Computers definitely helps for almost all engineerings! Coding skills never hurt anyone

BIO! you said biomedical engg. and so you obviously need bio!!

and 11 and 12 bio is not a repetition. if you have a 10 page chapter on the nervous system in class 10, you’ll have a 50 page chapter in class 12. there’s a LOT more detail. plus, there’s genetics. your neice need to study bio if she wants to do biomedical engg. in a competitive US univ. or college. trust me on this!

Bio definitely! There’s no way she’ll be prepared for a college level Biomedical program with only 10th grade Biology. Computers, (at least in the ISC system) definitely repeats much of 10th grade in 11th and 12th albeit to a greater degree; but Bio in 11th and 12th’s a different experience altogether!

There’s literally no comparison between the level of knowledge and understanding of Biology (Genetics, Biochemistry and suchlike), that a 10th and a 12th grade student of Biology has.
