K from Maine. no email. I don’t see a correlation, my guess is that they are keeping the people who should obviously be on the wl and getting rid those who obviously shouldn’t be on the wl immediately. then for the rest of us, they’ll deliberate a bit longer to see who makes the summer cut.

Last name: W
from Maryland.
Didn’t get an email from them. I have Gmail.
This is depressing.

My first letter of my last name is at the beginning of the alphabet =P I’m an international, though.

International, and no email. I see a lot of sense in what omarkhan says, though, I think that’s why a lot of us haven’t gotten any news, yet. But who cares, Amherst, whopeeeeee. I should get D’mouth out of my mind, argh. And Brown. And Yale. And Middlebury. Stupid waitlists.

It’s obvious that very few people (if any) will make it off the waitlist. I am encouraging my son to not even think about it as a real possibility. It’s time to start loving the school that loves you back.

last name P, Pennsylvania, school email
still no email . . . :/

hey guys… i got the same email which said im still on their waiting list… i got it on the 26th if that helps…

nd im an international

How many people do you think they are going to let go? I know Stanford and Harvard only kept around 100 on their extended waitlists…

D has elected to remain on the extended WL, but we’ve moved ahead as if she won’t get a call. We’ve already purchased airfare, hotel, rental car, etc. for orientation wkd at the school where she placed a deposit. Furthermore, she felt the need to get a roommate now while she still had some control over the selection, and they’ve already started picking out linens and such. Lastly, she was selected for a team sport at this school. I suppose my point is that as each day has passed, she’s become more entrenched, and it’ll be more difficult for her to bail if called. She elected to remain on 5 WL after 4/1, and she’s now removed herself from 2. This unknown has been VERY unsettling, and has started to create logistical dilemmas. Anyone else share the sentiment?

There’s a very high chance that even if people make it to the extended waitlist, they’re just going to be forced to suffer for a few more weeks, just to be rejected. This rejection is the same rejection as those given out on April 1, except these kids will have been subjected to two months of suffering before receiving their simple “no.” Fun fun fun.

I feel that Dartmouth wouldn’t go through all the trouble of narrowing down their waitlist if they had an inkling that they would not take any more students. Also, Dartmouth was thinking of expanding their class size for financial purposes…they might decide that in July.

I hope that is the case. I’m still waiting for my email.

STILL NO FREAKING EMAIL! Housing contract deadlines for other schools are nearing. ERRG!

No email yet either. Bah.

Still no email. M from the Midwest.

Has anyone heard from Dartmouth recently? Still no emails?

I don’t really care about the waitlist anymore seeing it’s basically pointless to believe in it now (although any good surprise would be nice …). I got an email from an admissions officer for my region and he said waitlistees would be updated about the waitlist situation within 7-10 days. Today is Day 9, so if they kept their word, it would arrive between now and tomorrow nightfall for his regional applicants.

I hope they aren’t keeping waitlistees on the waitlist without any strong belief that a GOOD NUMBER of spaces will be available. If it’s just one or two, and they keep hundreds on the waitlist until late summer, I would have to say their practices are inhumane.

Good luck to all and I hope this nightmare ends.

Im currently a '13 and one of my good friends is an admissions intern. From what I’ve heard, NOONE is coming off the waitlist this year. They’re considering paying students to defer a year because so many students accepted. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I want to make sure you’re realistic.

^ Sorry, I don’t mean to argue, but why would they keep people on the waitlist if nobody was coming off? It doesn’t make sense…
