I emailed at like noon and 7 hours later I still don’t have a reply. What’s going on?

when you call in, ask them to tell you if you’re on the extended wait list or not~ they should be able to, and you can also give them a different e-mail address if necessary

light10491, if you email it can easily take them two or three days to get back to you. I’d assume you’re getting a reply by tomorrow, but it’s probably best to just call them.

If I want to ask the admissions office a question, should I email my regional rep, or just the generic email address?

Unless you have a previous relationship with your regional rep (as in, you’ve talked to them before in person/phone/email), I think you should probably direct your question to the generic email address.

^ thank you.

I’m on the extended waiting list. Seems like a lot of people are too.

Maybe there actually IS a good chance of getting off the waitlist. Other schools have already notified their waitlistees that they will not be taking anyone off the waitlist. Dartmouth hasn’t done anything like that in the past 2 months. So maybe they believe there is hope, and a good amount will be taken off.

Do you guys know if Dartmouth usually does another round of cuts?

Don’t quite know what to make of this with respect to the wait list.

“…the College also went before the Hanover Zoning Board of Adjustment (ZBA) to ask permission to convert 51 existing double rooms in the new Fahey dorm on Tuck Mall into triples.”

“…this dorm change would not increase the number of undergraduate students in Hanover beyond numbers that the College has reached in the past, as was noted at the hearing.”

[Dartblog: “En Passant: 51 Fahey Doubles to Become Triples”](Dartblog.com)

If Dartmouth is right where they need to be in terms of class size, this conversion of dorm rooms into triples could open up to 51 spots. Let’s just hope it passes…

^ But it says that they wouldn’t increase the number of undergraduate students. :(

It says it would not increase number of undergraduates above numbers they have had in the past…the undergraduate population has been larger than it currently is in years past.

^ OH, okay. Sorry for the misunderstanding. :P

Still haven’t gotten that email yet… should I call admissions and ask them about the extended waitlist? Or should I wait a bit longer?

^ You should. Someone on here posted earlier that they had some problems with email. I have Gmail, and I had to contact them to get a copy of the email.

Call them. I was using my high school email address and didn’t receive Dartmouth’s email, so I called on Wednesday and they told me I’m on the extended waiting list.

Don’t know if it’s of any interest to anyone, but Penn just cut its WL considerably, leaving only few remaining on it. Oh, well! She really didn’t care much for Penn anyway. She said the idea of being in an inner-city intimidated her. She’s still hoping, however, for Dartmouth and Princeton.

When do you guys think they’ll get back to us? Was the waitlist just cut in half? Is there a second round of cuts?

At this point, I feel like somebody brave should call up and ask how much they cut the wait list in the last round. I for one would be very interested to know whether this is still a massive, indefinite holding of 1,000+ qualified people, or if they’ve gotten to the point where they are seriously and individually considering who’s left (of course, granted they’re taking anyone at all). It seems like the logical next step in navigating this maze.

(My situation, since this is the first time I’m posting: I use Gmail and did not receive anything past the first “it’ll take up to three weeks” email. Called admissions and was told I am on the extended waiting list as well. Would die to go to Dartmouth, of course, but also LOVE the school I am set to attend now. I hope everyone on this wait list does!)

I think there are around 600 people left…

^ What makes you think that?
