turningblind has to be lying…come on, does anyone buy that? he is a perfect student, and didnt get in…

People sometimes get rejected for being overqualified. UCSD does not want to be a safety school. That might be the case. UCLA and Berkeley will be a good fit.

i don’t see how turningblind could get rejected?

4.31x1000=4310
(2370+800+790)(.8)=3168

just your gpa and sat equals 7478…

geez, Turningblind. I’m amazed… Wherever you do decide to go though, I’m sure you’ll do great. Good luck!

(by the way, the whole safety school thing seems like a joke to me. It’s like saying, you’re smart and qualified and all, but we don’t want your money, because we think you don’t want to be here? Right. :|)

Ah, I didn’t get in…

Thats okay :D

yea i dont even know *** ucsd has done with some people…myself included…i honestly believed I got in/ should have even though ucla is my dream…

oh well…ucla please accept me

ForeverA, what are your stats… that is, if you don’t mind my asking :D

I don’t really think public schools can do the overqualified reject thing… especially because UCSD seems to operate on a strictly points-based evaluation system.

tb maybe they’re doing the “you’re too good for us so we’re rejecting you” thing…

(the info below is copied from my post in [link]http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?p=3798869&posted=1#post3798869[/link])

[] Weaknesses: quiet… only speaks when absolutely necessary
[] Why you think you were accepted/wait listed/denied: no idea.
[/ul]Other Factors:
General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: it made me sad that my estimated financial need was 0, and I’m only getting $2000 a year for Regents…
When I chose a college, I had no idea what the differences were and just picked a random one… I guess I picked the right one because from what I hear, Muir is a good place for me.
USC or UCSD? That is my real problem now. :

ok acid alice, you obviously dont know how to calculate your UC GPA because its impossible to have over a 4.33 weighted UC GPA.

you only get an extra point added to the numerator for max 8 honor/AP semesters.
so if you got straight A’s and took 20 honors A-G classes in 10th-11th grade you will have a 88/20 not 100/20

Accepted to Marshall for Music; my uncle teaches economics at SD. Can you major in economics at Marshall?

This is depressing. All my friends are in other colleges… So far none in Muir (my first choice which rejected me) and none in ERC (my second choice which accepted me).

acidalice probably didn’t cap her weighted classes.

brian: i have a feeling a lot of people didnt, too many 4.0+

Warren, International Studies/Econ. OOS. My friend got into SD but rejected from SB/Davis OOS…shows anything can happen.

runpunk,

what state and stats?

I’m from Texas 4.x UC GPA/ 2130 760M/720V/650W 710USH 740MIIC. I don’t think my friend had a 3.4 UC GPA, or just barely, maybe 2000 SAT…but somehow…hes overseas US. Resident.

dandaman: i don’t know who you are and i’m pretty sure you don’t know who i am, but who are you to judge my integrity on this board? i’m pretty shocked and upset over this rejection, and for you to mock me or question my honesty is truly appalling. i would encourage you to reconsider what you say to people so others will not be hurt as well.

on another note, i am definitely going to appeal. ucsd was my top choice for bioengineering…and there’s no way im giving up yet.

oh I didn’t know I was supposed to convert it to UC gpa… huh XD I don’t even know how to do that. sorry.

I can’t believe you guys were rejected with ~4.0 GPA and 2000+ SAT scores! I don’t feel bad at all about being rejected!

But really, guys. You are great students. It’s UCSD’s loss that they turned you down. The only thing you are lacking is a broken family, and you can blame your parents for graduated from college and making too much money! :)
