Decisions.

ad22043–It looks like, from highest to lowest, the merit scholarships are: Founders, Chancellor, and Dean. The highest is $12,000 per year. Not sure how far it goes down. On top of that it’s possible to receive a (need-based) Syracuse Grant, which I would imagine could range from quite a lot to none, based on the FAFSA. It looks like the two added up to $45K for CMIRA003. Ours added up to a little more than half that.

when I get into My Slice account, can’t get to admission page, but on fin aid page, the year 2012 (not 2011?) shows up but with the message ‘access inquiry denied’ Anybody have anything similar?

@rookiemom i get that too but i have not recieved any notification yet… live in Los Angeles

Yes we have the same post, not sure what it means. This is so stressful having to wait another week

at least I am not alone! thanks

why haven’t they sent me an email yet?!

I got accepted with the absolute worst financial aid package. Only 2k per semester in loans. I still have to pay over 50k a year. Can people who got financial aid please tell me their stats? Is it based solely on merit?

rookiemom - we have the same message. Was not there the day before.

Ashleypants–Congrats on acceptance, though I know that can turn to disappointment if the funding isn’t there. If you didn’t get any Syracuse Grant, then that’s based on need I think (though perhaps others can confirm?). D’s merit scholarship probably based on some combo of art portfolio she submitted, and academic stats: 30 ACT, 98 GPA, most classes AP/college credit/honors.

Hey guys I’ve been following this thread for a while now and finally decided to make an account! I am in the same boat as a few of you. I didn’t get any notification yesterday and on myslice financial aid says inquiry access denied. I was wondering if others who have this simply just did not apply for financial aid? Thanks so much and let’s keep our hopes alive!!

Goodmorning, while im drinking coffee, decide to come visit the site, you guys help me alot, the stress is well, you all know what it is.
UALBANYPROF- She got the Chancellors grant, and work/study/ but she also got like 3 loans that adds around $5K, we are happy about it but worried. It was an excellent financial aid compared to what I am reading, don’t get me wrong, but i don’t really understand this. We will be waiting for the actual letter and package to really study it. At least she is relieved about receiving an answer to one of her choices.
So, I’ll post more when I know more.
Thanks for all your guys supporting me, she is the first generation to go to a college at mainland. I have a son, but he is autistic and other health issues.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!!!
IM sorry for those who have not receive their answers, but keep hope and faith. And hugs to all who where not accepted.

thanks for all the info, my sons financial aid page looks the same as well and he did get an acceptance. He is a coronat finalist so I am sure that is why it is not available. I am sure after this week it will come up. Good luck to everyone

Anyone out there who heard yesterday but was not accepted?

accepted to COE and CAS

i didn’t get an email yesterday and my financial aid page shows the same message - access denied. I think I’m not going to get in though because when everyone was getting their acceptance email (around 4:40pm), my financial aid link was active and showing $0.00 in financial aid. I’m sure I’d qualify for at least some loans if I’d been accepted. We’ll see next week…

I felt that Syracuse made a mistake with their financial aid packages. I was appalled at what they gave me compared to other schools.

About a monthish after I submitted my application I saw on MySlice that I needed another teacher recommendation. I did end up sending another one in. Do you guys think that might be why I haven’t gotten my decision yet?

having lurked over this forum quite a bit, i feel like even the need based financial aid must have something to do with merit, or at least how much the school actually wants you. it sounds like many kids who had pretty serious financial need got a bad deal, whereas i got a gigantic financial aid package even though i’m practically in the middle of the middle class. if it is the case that syracuse is basing need-based on merit as well, they are not alone. boston university is very clear that they only give strong need-based aid to applicants who both have need and they like a lot. although i don’t have a problem with that, i do think it’s unjust that schools would accept students and give them false hope when they know that those students will not be able to pay enough to attend. there’s a rejection option for a reason, and to some degree, it’s more humane than offering acceptance to a kid who most certainly will not be able to attend for economic reasons.

anyway, i’m thankful to the syracuse financial aid gods for my need-based grant. haha.

mgsenny, i only sent in one teacher recommendation, but i heard yesterday. don’t fret, both acceptances and rejections will come out in each wave. :)

@ashleypants, with my financial package, i have to pay 5k a year and syracuse covers the rest of the cost, however, my mom does not work at all so im still not sure if i’ll go.
