Your attitude is right. Find #2. Love them like they love you.
They are using you as a hedge or insurance policy. They’ve said no but want you hanging out just in case they need you if fewer accept than they believe.
If it happens then revisit later. But by then hopefully you’ve fallen in love with another, have a roomie arranged and all.
Then it’s their loss if they come back and you’re loving #2 ( or you can re engage).
Just coming back to update you all from Friday- We sent in the change of major request- went from Education to Business (all areas) and we got an email today that her major change was approved and also it is showing changed in her portal as well. Just an FYI for anyone else that may be considering doing this and wondered how it works or if its possible.
I don’t what stats were but two of my son’s friends got off the waitlist at Clemson last year (after May 1). One went and the other didn’t. The previous year we knew of two other students (one being my nephew) that got offered spots from the WL. He didn’t go but the other student did. Not to get hopes up but it seems it does happen. In the end I think it’s better to have an alternate plan because we just don’t know what they are looking for? My daughter wasn’t willing to “wait” so went to USC instead and never looked back!
That’s very considerate of you to decline spots that you know you aren’t going to take. My kid’s classmates have accepted early decisions but are not rescinding EA and RD applications just to see if they can get in.
Waitlisted last week at Clemson and today at USC. OOS 3.78 uw, 1270 SAT, Private school. Really feeling grade inflation in my local community, esp. from the public schools where a large amount of students with lower stats are getting in.
I should say ‘higher’ inflated stats (no finals anymore since covid, handing A’s out like candy, automatic 50 instead of a 0, and endless retakes on tests. This is Washington DC area…
I’m sorry. And can relate … my daughter as well - great stats, EC and leadership stuff and waitlist at SC today and Clemson. OOS. Kind of stunned and dealing with a really sad daughter.
Sorry, I was talking about USC’s decision. The USC decision is out, and my son was accepted (in state) just last night when he checked U of SC’s portal.
Agree grade inflation is REAL. My daughter went from public school with no homework with straight A’s to private school with hours of homework and tough rigor and a lot of B’s. Kids with inflation will struggle.
Totally agree on grade inflation- my daughters 3.8 weighted at a competitive private school would be a 4.4 weighted on the local public high school. I’m hoping colleges adjust for that but still frustrating.
