I am on my son’s account and wanted to delete his username, change it, or just get rid of the account all together.
How do I go about doing this?

I would send a PM to a moderator and see what they say.
Moderators are listed at the bottom right of the main page with the list of threads – right now I see CollegeMom, Chedva, Admin and Mod Team listed.
Contact one of the moderators and throw yourself on his or her mercy, saying please please delete this user name because your son innocently set it up and didn’t realize it would violate this privacy (if that’s indeed the case).

impossible. And if it does work, please contact me because I will be amazed and astonished.
The data is backed up on a computer in a dusty corner at a small village in Bavaria, and engraved on a stone at the top of the Himalayas already…So forget about erasing your footprint…
I doubt you’ll be able to. People just let their accounts go dormant. And just because you couldn’t decide to pose as yourself or your parent in past posts is no reason to ditch CC all together…
This is snarky and I am sorry…
If someone joins a messageboard and only has three posts, then they could just call things a day with no worries.
There are only 3 posts on the userid. Just stop using it and open another account.
If this is another account with 1000s of posts, then you are probably out of luck.
If you are on your son’s account just stop using it and open a new one with a name you will use. If in one of the 2 posts that were made with this ID there is information that makes your son readily identifiable, send an e-mail to the moderators. If your son used your e-mail and for some reason you can’t open a new account, send an e-mail to the moderators.

If you don’t want him to use it anymore (and looking at his posting history as a parent I can understand why - and there are more than 3 posts, some forums are not calculated in the total), just change the password and the email address associated with it.
But there would be nothing to stop him from starting a new account.
It is best to just let the username fade into obscurity. Using the username you wish to delete to start threads like this just encourages people (even me ) to look up the post history to see what all the fuss is about. Best to use PMs to the moderators to plead your case (though it probably won’t work
).
Good luck!
