Did you get the Presidential alert?

I got in on my Google phone with Verizon. I was in the grocery store, with a lot of people, so it sounded like it was in stereo.

Nope. Verizon, 6s. However, I also have a suspended t-mobile line. Wonder if it went there.

S, on same plan with iPhone 7 got it.

From what I can tell, there are no legal restrictions on how this powerful tool can be used. That concerns me.

I got it on my phone at the office as did everyone else, young and old, white and non-white, male or female. I just heard on PBS Newshour that the President, thankfully is prohibited by law from using the alert system to communicate anything he wants to,thankfully as that would creep me out.
Funny story here. DH is retired Federal Senior Executive. When he reached that level of responsibility, we had a secure phone line installed in our house, not our choice plus it was huge as it also had a fax. The first time it rang during dinner, our entire family jumped. Turned out and these were the only calls ever received were telemarketers - solar energy, refinancing, etc. as well as wrong numbers. I decided to play along with one about refinancing our “big well known and easily located by address White House”

It is painfully transparent that every time something hits the news that is not favorable, there is an attempt to change the subject and redirect attention. This seems like just another attempt.

One family member who has a prepaid phone (PagePlus on the Verizon network) did not receive the alert.

Talked to a friend who has MANY burner phones for campaign related work - every burner phone got the alert.

Wondering what happened in places like hospitals where folks use cells for communication?

Or schools.

I was alone in my car…can’t imagine what it would have been like in the grocery store, or a stadium, for example.

I have a tracfone. I got at least 8 alerts.

I was away from my phone at the time, so I don’t know if it never came through, or if you aren’t looking then you are out of luck if it’s really important. Heck, the alerts from my cameras , doorbell and alarm system persist untiI I delete them, but a FEMA alert will disappear if I don’t see it?
I agree that theses shouldn’t be called Presidentail Alerts. What’s wrong with the old “This is a test of the Emergency Broadcast System”?

Incoming nuclear weapons.

I get CNN and breaking news alerts. That’s enough

“Incoming nuclear weapons.”

Which will be as helpful as the old “Duck and Cover” training we got as kids. My school desk wasn’t going to be providing me with much protection from nuclear fallout.

I get warnings and notifications of all possible impending disasters from my sisters. Any other warning system is just redundant in my case. Anyone worried about not getting the alert today may want to get on my sisters’ call/text list. They will be happy to give you evacuation advice. And suggestions for zombies or nuclear attack preparations.

Everyone of wife’s devices was notified. Account in daughter’s name.

Nope–I’m an expat.

Received it.

All my government alerts are set to not notify me. This alert was to bypass that setting, which it did.

I’m really surprised so many of you didn’t receive it. The government is going to have to figure out how to correct that if this method is to be successful.

Interestingly I got it but my husband did not. Our cell phone accounts are under his name. Weird. Guess I’ll text him if the world is ending.

As far as I know I didn’t get it. I wasn’t near my phone and it didn’t come across on my watch. Verizon.

Got it while on hold 40 minutes with the Dept. of Revenue…

I didn’t get it. I have an iPhone 7 with AT&T. I’m okay with that.
