I received it and tried REALLY REALLY hard to figure out a way to reply, to no avail. It’s likely best that I wasn’t successful in my attempts…my message back would have 100% landed me on a watch list.
Personally, I prefer being in the loop rather than out of it and depending upon others to fill me in. 'Tis not difficult to see something and dismiss it if I don’t care. It’s worse wondering what everyone else knows that I don’t.
MODERATOR’S NOTE:
I thought the the question as asked was innocuous enough that it would not require me to intervene, other than to delete the stray post without comment. Based upon the overnight activity, I was wrong.
The question asked was “Did you get the Presidential alert?” That seemed simple enough to me. It was not “Share your conspiracy theories,” “Discuss the future of US-DPRK negotiations,” etc. Multiple posts deleted.

OP here. Wow, it WAS that simple for me. I went to bed too early, I guess.
I didn’t get one on my i-phone 8, and it’s interesting to me that some not only got one, but numerous ones (someone said they got 7 or 8?)
I got it on my cell. I was in the treatment room at the cancer center, which is a large area, and suddenly things were beeping all over the place.
Usually we only hear beeping when someone’s IV is done with a bag.
I got it - T-Mobile - loud buzz and alert banner. White female with iPhone 6 in my name.
I got it on my work iPhone (AT&T) at the exact same time as the other 100 people in my office. It was loud and obnoxious. We’re a grab bag of races and genders. I thought I had missed it on my personal Samsung phone (Verizon) but later realized that the phone was muted and I did get the alert but had gotten enough since that it was pushed near the bottom. I’m a white female and the phone is in my name. I didn’t think to ask if anyone else in the family got it.
Don’t really see the need for it since we already have the Emergency Alert System that has similar warnings for flood and tornado watches around here.
@Nrdsb4 I’m glad you started this thread. It’s nice knowing we’re not alone TBH, but I still wonder what singled us non-receivers out, esp since H sitting right next to me in our moving car with the same type/age phone and plan did get it.
I wonder if we’ll ever get answers.
I got it, and it seemed that everyone who was in the same store that I was also received it.
@Creekland, what does your carrier say about why you didn’t get the alert?
Here is what I found for why some phones did not get the message:
“Only WEA compatible cell phones that are switched on and within range of an active cell tower, and whose wireless provider participates in WEA will be capable of receiving the test message. Additionally, if a user is on a call, or with an active data session open on their phone, they might not have received the message.”
I guess my phone is WEA compatible. Got the message on a newer android phone with verizon.
@mom2and, I saw that on the web. My phone meets all of the criteria. It was sitting next to me on a desk while I worked on my laptop.
I agree with others who said they are not at all upset about not getting the alert; I was just curious why DH got it and I didn’t.
@MomofJandL Haven’t contacted them. Sent an email to Fema though. I seriously doubt we’ll hear back. There seem to be too many of us to consider individually.
H and I are guessing it’s due to using my phone for our music and his internet needs while traveling (I was driving - he was working), but everything we’ve read says I should have gotten it later. That never happened. We were also getting texts and phone calls in from family during that time period - overriding Blue Tooth music as it always does. Seems weird to get texts from contacts but nothing from a source that’s supposed to notify folks of an emergency. Seems wrong TBH…
Answer to where banners go - on my iPhone the banners disappear after they appear when first unlock phone. After that to see banners (news and weather etc that you get) you drag down from top of screen and the notification center appears.
I was talking on phone when came in and heard buzz. Looked to see if missed call or text. Since I was on phone and open the second time I looked it had disappeared. Heard my H comment on it on tv and checked my phone as I said above and it was there.
I wonder if a lot of people who said they didn’t get it (at least ones with newer phones) did get it but missed it and could find it now if looked. I do allow notifications from local news and weather plus reminders and one devotional app.
My phone saves all text messages - even from Verizon or power outages or bills coming up or whatever. I just looked. I have nothing from Fema.
There’s no banner notification when I scroll down either. There was one from my youngest that I hadn’t clicked on yet.
I thought of that yesterday, but no, I had no outstanding notifications.
Two Verizon iPhones, same cell, one got it, one didn’t.
Yes, and my 24 second graders immediately formed an orderly line at the classroom door (they thought it was a fire drill, lol).
@Creekland the emergency alerts are not text messages. I did get the alert yesterday, but the only way I have figured out to see it now is to swipe up on the home screen of my iPhone 7. That pulls up the Notification Center which shows recent alerts.
Both H and I got the alert but since our phones were on silent we didn’t hear or see them till later. Younger D who is on our cell plan with a newer IPhone didn’t get it. Not sure about other kids. One was traveling abroad so I’d be curious if he got it.
