I’m surprised to hear about Pitt. My daughter submitted her app on 10/20 and received an update on 11/25 with a request for mid-year senior grades. She is still finishing up the first semester so will not be able to send in her grades until late January. Her stats are similar to your daughter.

We are also looking forward to visiting Creighton, and will visit a few schools in the NE over spring break.

Interesting, thanks for sharing @Sor2025

That’s about when mine applied to Pitt and hasn’t heard back yet. Just a little surprising as it was rolling.

We stuck mostly to east coast schools except two Ohio, and as far north as New York and south as Florida. Waitlisted Butler but will get taken off that one. A few acceptances already from December though. Also did a couple non-direct applications and was accepted, but those now don’t feel as likely and may not consider any longer. Admittedly, a couple that were applied to didn’t realize they weren’t direct, have to know the verbage of pre-nursing and what that means for the particular school. I’d recommend to next year’s group to read more about the programs at the schools in detail. Honestly, it was a really busy fall, working full time, school, normal life issues, etc.

At this point we’re waiting on a few left, which are I suppose would be the reach ones, and a deferral. I believe two decisions release in January, one Feb, and the interested deferral mid-Feb. Although, that one seems unlikely as the board for that sounds like it’s closed to health majors.

For those developing lists, I can share my daughter’s stats and process:

4.0
34 ACT
Volunteered at Children’s Hospital for all of high school, was on the hospital junior volunteer board
Shadowed surgical ICU nurse at local trauma hospital for 40 hours summer after sophomore year
Attended Ohio State’s nursing camp summer after junior year
Took CNA course and got CNA license summer after junior year
Works as a peer tutor and tutors online in math

Applications:
Pitt - applied end of August, admitted early October with $60k scholarship
Penn - admitted ED and attending
Case Western - admitted EA with $40k per year scholarship
Marquette - admitted with scholarship
SLU - admitted with scholarship
Iowa - admitted early October, withdrew before hearing about nursing
Indiana - withdrew
UVA - withdrew
Michigan - withdrew
UNC CH - withdrew
Villanova - withdrew
Ohio State - withdrew
Delaware - withdrew
Northeastern - withdrew

Considered but didn’t apply:
Emory - would have applied RD
Georgetown - would have applied RD
Boston College - would have applied RD
Purdue
Creighton

Congratulations on all her acceptances at those schools! Many are tough to get into on that list. A good point for the upcoming classes is probably the volunteering and considering the EC’s other than sports, jobs, etc. CNA did as well, but not the amount of volunteering at hospitals. So to those upcoming maybe check into that. We tried but the volunteer program for high school kids was backlogged and was not accepted into.

Many kids now have high GPAs applying to schools so consider how to differentiate. We weren’t after many tough entries, only applied to three schools on that particular list, and one being our flagship. My son had more likely/safeties he applied to. I guess that’s another thing to consider with school lists, what’s the goal such as outcome, small school or large, prestige or care if it is/isn’t, school environment, sports, location of college, merit amount. Enjoy developing it, I think the list was the more enjoyable part so far!

Thank you, she is very excited! Based on her acceptance letter that spoke to her healthcare activities - I think those extracurriculars made a big difference! I’ve also heard that having a CNA makes life a bit easier at the start of nursing school.

Did any pre-nursing majors to Indiana (Bloomington) receive an emailed invite to apply to Direct Admit Nursing? Just wondering how many they send out and if anyone knows stats on how many apply and how many are then given direct admit?

Binghamton SUNY also has direct admit.

Scholarship opportunities….

When does UVA nursing come out?

I think UVA EA is mid February.

No idea on a certain date. But I’ve seen different websites state dates like Jan 31, Feb 7 and 15. The Peabody Blog will post the date before it comes out. I’d watch for information on there. Last year it is posted on the blog Feb 2 it was released. Maybe this year will follow a similar format of first Friday?

Does anyone know anything about Florida Southern College Nursing program ? Dd got accepted with some meaningful scholarship. Don’t see much information on it. She also has acceptances from Penn State Altoona, USF pre nursing, Rutgers Camden so far. Still waiting from a bunch of other schools.

I don’t know much about it. Is it a private school?

From what my daughter said its small and not much of a campus

Did you hear anything from West Chester yet? Still crickets here.

It’s a small private school, so shouldn’t be compared to large state flagships. However, I’ve read that the campus architecture is beautiful, many buildings designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. I know very little about the nursing program, other than that it’s one of the few in the south with direct entry.

Anyone know when Manoa and Utah send out their final decisions about their direct admit?

The Utah nursing supplemental isn’t due until Feb 1 so I would imagine its going to be a while.

Rutgers NB came out today.

Daughter admitted to Rutgers NB today. OOS.
