Many of us are wondering the same thing. In our case 5.5 years to get BS at UCI and the accelerated BSN is cheaper than the direct nursing options we have.
These are the conversations our family will need to start in the next couple of weeks⊠sounds like youâve priced the accelerated optionâŠWhat are you figuring for costs?
Yes, the accelerated option. Just tuition, room and board - not plane tickets and travel. He will not commute in any case, but for UCI we are within driving distance.
Thank you. Right now we are leaning towards ASU, as she can likely complete in 3 years due to her community college classes. (ASU accepts the classes, and wonât make her repeat them, unlike the UCâs). But, we are still crossing our fingers, too, for UCLA and SDSU. Crossing fingers, for everyone!
Wow, thanks for the info! Sounds like it will be a tough challenge to get in, with so few available spots. Itâs so stressful, trying to make the right decision!!
Along with being on the nursing waitlist, did UCI admit him on an alternate major? Or do they just do one or the other?
No, they did not.
" Thank you for applying to the University of California, Irvine. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer you admission at this time for Fall 2024. However, your application is strong and we want to provide you the opportunity to be included on the waitlist.
To place your name on the waitlist, complete the [Statement of Intent to Participate (SIP)] no later than April 15, 2024. Notification of UCI waitlist decisions will be sent between April and late summer. For a list of frequently asked questions regarding the waitlist, visit our website here.
While waiting to receive our waitlist decision, we recommend that you do not miss the deadlines at other colleges or universities. If a space does not become available to you and attending UCI remains your ambition, we encourage you to continue with your studies and, if possible, consider applying as a transfer student in the future.
Again, thank you for your interest in UCI. We wish you every success in achieving your educational goals.
Sincerely,
Office of Undergraduate Admissions
University of California, Irvine"
Admission stats are very helpful to decide which schools are a right match for each student. Especially for direct admit nursing (Direct Admit Nursing Programs), it was challenging for me to find out admission stats of colleges and acceptance rates are mostly much lower than other majors, which scares me a quite bit.
For future students or parents who are looking for admission stats, I share what I have found so far. Only public colleges
Thank you for this!
I am a high school junior planning to apply to nursing this fall. I just wanted to see if anyone had any feedback. I only want to apply direct entry and I live in MA but would like to go out of state.
STATS:
3.75 W GPA
1250 SAT
ECâS:
CNA
40 HRS Hospital Volunteer Experience
School and Student Council
NHS
Vice president of fundraising club
and a few other small things
SOME SCHOOLS IM THINKING OF:
Elon
Sacred Heart
Clemson
Udel
SDSU
Providence
FAU
Upitt
and some others but these are my top choices
Note that ASU nursing has a high progression GPA of 3.50 each of the first four semesters. Students who fall below that are dismissed from the major, but can reapply into competitive admission along with the non-direct pre-nursing students.

Did anyone hear from San Diego State today for nursing? 100+ updates posted in SDSU thread, and it is easier to ask here than read the updates there
I do realize that. She has already completed 3/4 of the first four years of coursework At community college. It looks like 80% of it will transfer. Not sure what they will do regarding GPA.
Sorry - that needs edited. She has completed the IGETC coursework, which satisfies many of the courses in the first 2 years.
We did not. Portal just says âReceivedâ. SighâŠ
Hi There! You are a âlikelyâ match for Sacred Heart, and I highly recommend you check out UMaine. Fantastic program, lovely school. Good luck!
does anyone know of any pre nursing programs with high acceptance rates into the upper division
https://franu.edu/guaranteed-admissions may be what you are looking for (3.0 college GPA and other minimum requirements fulfilled gives guaranteed admission to the nursing major).
are there any other schools with similar policyâs. I donât think i would want to go to a school thatâs super religious, I donât mind sacred heart but otherwise i donât want to go to a school where itâs a big part of culture
Hi- I am looking for some feedback on U Connâs Nursing program. Does anyone have any positives/negatives about the program?
