do you have any gay teachers?

i’m not sure but i had this maybe gay spanish teacher in middle school and parents freaked when he patted a boy on his head or touched the kid’s arm or something…
he was one of hte best teachers i’ve ever had…certainly the best spanish teacher
he was sarcastic and hilarious!

I think we have 1:
25, male, lives with parents… we are sure he’s not dating a probably didn’t in college… oh and he goes to bed at like 8:00am and he’s not a nerd. LOL Sure he’s asleep at 8:00am… I think he just made that up as an excuse for not checking e-mail because he has is computer processing different info!

I haven’t had one yet, although there were rumors about the school librarian. Turns out he has a wife and family. I warned all of the incoming freshman I know from church not to ask about that because it’s not true. Lol :)

Wow,this kinda made me wonder.

My 3 favorite subjects are Math, English, Spanish, in that order.

Most of the gay men like math, english, and spanish, or teach it, so it looks here. That’s kinda weird. I’m glad I’m gay or I’d be questioning my sexuality, hahaha.

^^ Haha. I lol’d.

I think it’s cool that everyone says their gay teachers are, in fact, wonderful teachers. : ) Very good for the LGBT community.

I agree.

I feel bad for the Pre-calc teacher.
He knew I was gay, I think from my math teacher.

But he would always smile and since I was on the math team he’d be all happy when he sees me in the hallways and be like HI CHRIS!

I mean everyone pretty much guessed he was gay, he talked, acted, sounded, did everything like it.

Sexuality never influences ones abilities to teach a class

Agreed that sexuality doesn’t affect teaching, but society is looking for ways to nitpick the gay community. Successful teachers are a great example of how the community is being improved with the help of the gay community. I think it’s great.

Well homosexuality will never be fully accepted, but there are racists and there will always be racists too, so, it’s just blah. I do think that homosexuality is getting more and more accepted everyday

I do think that the next generation is definitely going to be more open minded towards homosexuality.

I think it’s going to end up like the Civil Rights Movement. 30-50 years from now, people are going to look back on all the restrictions that were put on homosexuals and say, “Wow! I can’t believe we treated them like that.”

It’s only a matter of time, but of course there are always going to be the gay-haters. But as long as the GLBT community gets their inherent rights as American Citizens, other peoples opinions won’t matter. We just have to fight to the point where the same rights are extended to EVERYONE.

Liberty and Justice FOR ALL, no? :)

No we have no gay teachers as far as I know, most of them are maried actualy.

Not gay, but probably the best teacher I ever had was in Geometry- he was great. After I graduated, he had a sex change operation. He left the school after that. I wasn’t around anymore but I hope he didn’t leave because of pressure from the school. I contacted the school to find out where I could send him a note telling him what a strong influence he had on me, and was told he was no longer there.

Wow, way to bump back up an old thread :p.

Now that I’m in college though, I have 1 awesome lesbian professor who I’ve had two semesters in a row for Spanish. She has a daughter and unfortunately, her partner of nearly two decades passed away last spring :(. It was her partner’s daughter and there was a huge battle between her and her partner’s parents as to who would have custody of the child. She eventually won and moved to America :).

I also have 2 gay professors which we’re pretty sure have a thing for each other. It’s cute :).

i had one gay english teacher, he was great.

we have one transgender teacher who underwent the operation and everything, and it just so happens he is a godawful teacher.

my high school has a very solid population of lgbt teachers, id estimate somewhere between 5-8%.

we shouldn’t be correlating their teaching abilities at all with the fact that they’re gay. two separate ideas totally. the fact that this thread exists means, sadly, we haven’t fully accepted them as integrated members of society. “i have a great teacher” rather than “i have a great gay teacher”.

^ To be fair, the point of the thread was about gay/lesbian teachers.

I have discussed this prof that I adore before and her sexuality never comes up. I always say “I have an awesome Spanish prof, you should take her if you can get her class.” Not "I have an awesome LESBIAN who happens to be a Spanish prof… "

Please remember that this thread is nearly 4.5 years old. At the time, we were talking heavily about the LGBT community.

This thread is taken way out of context.

There are two male teachers (English and Geography) who are rumored to be gay/bi- apparently people have seen them with their boyfriends, but it’s unconfirmed. We used to have two out lesbian drama teachers who were together, but they left because one of them got sick. The only openly gay staff member is a trainee teacher who works as a technician for the Drama department. He’s awesome :D

Everyone is pretty sure that the main English Lit AP teacher is gay. Apparently, she told one of her classes a few years ago, but that’s probably just a rumor.

There’s a SS teacher (and adviser for MUN) who is openly gay. Nobody cares for the most part, but sometimes he’s purposely very awkward about it when talking to guys and he was saying it to a female student, it would absolutely be sexual harassment.

We were all convinced that my chem teacher last year was lesbian (that’s EVERYONE’s first impression when they meet her). But she was constantly talking about her husband, so apparently not.

Both of them are very good teachers though, and I absolutely believe that there is no correlation between the two.

nahh. I do have one teacher that’s kind of perverted though…

^^ I feel exactly the same way about my Chem teacher. O:

When I took Bio, my teacher came out in class.
