Do you think paying for college (no aid at all) increase your chances

However he is…I m really appreciating his decision…

yeah, it takes guts to quit a successful job and rejoin college

does that guts count for anything???

“Study-get a job-be succesful”. Maybe the guy doesn’t think that way; perhaps he thinks “study-learn-be wise”. Isn’t it a great decision to study for the sole love for knowledge? And don’t say he could just go to the library, because it just can’t be the same.

ya…I m currently goin to a coaching just for knowledge…

well, we changed the subject here for "why someone older than 25 wants to go to college. I mentioned my 31 years old friend, but i’m also 27. We’re partners in a company in south america, with offices in chile, peru and brazil. we sold the company to a telecom. now i just want to dedicate my life to study and research. i don’t need more money. I think an academic environment will help me enrich my intelect. If you guys, think a university as a path to success, think beyond that.

I see , that most of you think it’s impossible for me to be accepted in a top rated university, thanks for the feedback. hope to hear good news from u all in the end of the application process. I still have some hope!!!

That’s what I mean; for a college, you should be more interesting than those kids pressed by their parents to study in a top university abroad. There are other ways to gain success and prestige; if they only care about that, they shouldn’t take the place that a passionate person would use much better.

Keep in mind that CC is full of stupid and Ignorant kids who on an average know nothing about the College Admission Process. I wouldn’t buy the views of a 18th year old, who himself would end up being a reject.

Really Sailesh?

I guess ur from BK or SXC right?

Discussing the original topic…

Paying for college definitely increases your chance but not at need blind, obviously. That does not mean that they admit every other guy who wants to pay. EC’s and essay play a big role too…who knows this better than me:(

lol…well, thats true…Neway,Felipeamc…I really appreciate for ur decision…its not an easy thing to giv up a job n RESTART ur studies…hope u n ur friend get into a good one!..

i’m from BK…

BK…SXC???(Wats this??)…

these are the major high schools of Nepal…‘most’ ppl here in CC are from these two schools…i mean almost ‘most’ btw…

oh…lol…

I am neither from BK nor from SXC coz i did nothing after my SLC…had a pretty good SLC though and my frens who got lesser marks in SLC got into BK and SXC:) except me and the like :(…also i messed up with my college admissions…

Guys… I am a bad applicant but a good student… believe it or not! My scores are among the best in my country…~85% in both SLC and +2 :)

come on…getting into bk or sxc is definitely not the end of the world…and sinc e u have good marks in slc as well as +2…U have every chance to be enthusiastic about college admissions…tell me how did u …“messed up with my college admissions…”…???..how did ur SAT go?

SAT 2100+ SAT II 790,800 ED deferred, waitlisted, rejected, other two colleges waitlilsted rejected…one accepted but the financial aid was not enough…those were colleges in US i applied other than the one I am studying

where are u studying and where all had u applied…excuse me if i am getting a bit more curious but can’t help it…I would like to show u my college list…please do comment on it…

Hey,intl_transfer,where r u currently studying?..

Sir Issac Newton, I am in a public school’s honors college…full tuition sch…it’s pretty nice here…but i want to transfer to much better…it’s difficult though because just a few ~15 give aid to intl transfers that too for very few…

Shail, you will get to a good one, if not to your ED; look around you, evaluate your peers from BK and SXC, they r ur compitetors.

I applied to Oberlin(ED), U Richmond, FandM, and Tri U…none said no on my RD, none accepted with full aid too…

Anyway i will go to a beter college now…hopefully…
