I just came across a very interesting browser add-on called DoNotTrack+.

This stops all the advertising companies and tracking software from being able to track you as you travel around the internet.

It’s interesting to see just how many companies and ad networks are following you around. On the page I am typing this in on, it reports 9 things blocked - 1 social network, 3 ad networks, and 5 tracking companies.

I don’t normally stray from a few sites I check regularly. But in searching out a video I wanted to watch, I encountered several sites that blocked me from viewing content unless I disabled Adblock.

I’m not sure what you mean by “trustworthy”.

It’s been around awhile, reviewed in multiple places, their web site lists the company principals, it appears to be a legit company.

It works by dynamically filtering and modifying the code that comes from web pages to remove the portions that report to the hundreds of tracking companies and ad networks. They are not the first to do this, there are other add-ons that do more or less the same.

This one has some added features I think are interesting, with the way they handle embedded social networking.
