Oh, Mrs. Hughes and Mr. Carson are so cute together.
Why was the episode so short tonight??
Congratulations to Joanne Froggatt, 2015 Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in a TV Series!
This is where the Downton abbey recaps came from http://www.someecards.com/topic/downton-abbey Nothing there for this season!
If you go the website @walkinghome mentioned, and search for Downton Abbey, they have last week’s episode as if it took place as a group chat.
I thought this episode was one of the most boring so far. Nothing happened.
Bunting is starting to tutor Daisy. They’re setting up for the subplot of who saw the murderer of Greene and who really killed him. Was it really Bates or someone more unexpected…like Isis, Lord Grantham’s dog? :D`
Loved Lord Grantham’s reference to Rosa Luxemburg when referring to Sarah Bunting though he likely doesn’t know and doesn’t care that her murder was at the hands of right-wing German military officers.
Ones who would eventually join the Nazi party or have close ideological associations with them.
Why didn’t Anna tell Bates what’s going on with Lady Mary and Tony? Now he’s going to think those contraceptives were for her when he finds out she bought them, as he inevitably will.
Is the art expert an old flame of Cora?
two, totally agree.
I was good and went to bed in order to get a week behind to watch at 8 next week. It sounds like that was a good move. This Anna and Bates thing annoys me, though. I didn’t like Bates much from the start when he first arrived. I don’t want anything bad to happen to him but he’s just so self absorbed and broody all the bloody time. I’m tired of his moods always having to be pampered.
I’m also tired of Thomas. There is so little to him other than being evil.
CF, I thought the same thing about the art expert.
I also have noticed an increased presence of Isis–which, as a dog person, of course I love.
I realized last night that the dog’s name Isis is the same as the name of the terrorists in the Middle East. A coincidence, because Isis was the Greek goddess, and ISIS stands for Islamic State of Iraq.
I liked last night’s episode.
My predictions: Lady Mary is sure to get caught dallying with Lord Gillingham. Thomas leaves Downton to follow Jimmy. (Oh, I do hope so. I’m sooooo sick of him.) Baxter and Mosely become closer and closer. Daisy finally learns enough to go run the farm. As someone up-thread suggested, it will turn out that Mrs. Hughes, not Mr. Bates, pushed Gillingham’s valet. Miss Bunting and Tom do not develop a romance, but instead a strong friendship. She encourages him to go to leave Downton but stay close by, so he can be with his daughter. I liked Miss Bunting very much in this episode; she toned it down, recognized that Lord Grantham would not want her to stay for dinner and so left, and was extremely helpful to Daisy.
So the baby photo…hmm. I have this feeling Gillingham has done this before - remember Ms Mabel Fox? What broke that up, his golddigging revealed? Didn’t replace Green because he wanted to live more simply or he couldn’t afford it? His family sold off land to pay the estate tax right? I want to slap Mary upside the head for making Anna go to the pharmacy - does she not do anything on her own? Getting tired of her smug smirks and calling Edith idiotic. I hope Daisy moves out to the farm and finds a nice farmer’s son.
What 1920s female BC device complete with instructions did Anna buy for Lady Mary?
Well, Margaret Sanger opened the first birth control clinic in the US in 1916, so there had to be something!
I am wary of Tony I am hoping he isn’t planning on trapping Mary. Anna would not betray Mary to anyone including Bates. Mrs Hughes would not kill someone, not her character, Maybe the butler (my bran isn’t working this am) had some of his contacts, or Bates contacts form prison. I really want to know what happened to Edith’s guy (once again Brain not working)
Several types of diaphragms and cervical caps made of vulcanized rubber or plastics were available and widely used in Europe from the 1880s on.
Totally unfair for Mary to ask Anna to buy her “thing”. Bates will hear about it, Anna won’t betray Mary, and the couple will fight.
Tony has everything to gain by trapping Mary, even being seen with her is enough. How foolish people are makes for good tv
Since Anna ran out of the pharmacy before getting all the instructions, and the clerk said they could be tricky, could it be Mary will use the device incorrectly and become pregnant? I also thought the other gentlemen who was at the house (forget his name) was trying to warn Mary that Tony will use sex-confused-for-love to trap her.
Any chance Lord Gillingham murdered Greene?
