So who is going to find that picture of little baby Marigold? I would suspect a servant gives to Carson/Mrs Hughes and s/he hands it to Lord Grantham?
@amandakayak, what a cute dog!
back to the regular discussion…
So Daisy will end up tutoring Lord Grantham after she turns out to be a math whiz? Just kidding!
I always thought that he did kill him. He left on an errand that day didn’t he?
Mrs. Hughes would give Bates and atta boy and Anna would fall completely apart and join a nunnery or something.
That could be an interesting…and possibly more provocatively subversive plotline. Might be too radical for Julian Fellows…
From downstairs kitchen maid to Big-4 CPA extraordinaire and maybe even Fields Medalist contender in one season???
Lord Grantham and the Countess will be in apoplectic fits while struggling to find their nearest supply of smelling salts.
Anna will be pregnate when Bates is accused.
Does anyone know where Mrs. Hughes was that day? I still think she ran into him and was giving him a piece of her mind when the accident happened and that someone-- such as kid-- ran past and unkowingly pushed him. I just do not think Bates would do that to Anna, however he felt.
Daisy is probably dyslexic, I felt like she said something “all the numbers get jumbled up” or something like that. My dog pic is our much missed Seeing Eye puppy that we raised last yr who shockingly passed the test and is guide dogging in Indiana.
I thought Daisy said that the books used words she didn’t understand.
I got the sense she was dyslexic too. How could they have helped her back then? It should be interesting.
Maybe she needs glasses.
Just as Robert is so happy with Tom helping run the estate (highly implausible, really, but I do like this relationship since someone with an ounce of horse sense needs to tend to the farm management) J Fellowes needs to remind his lordship (bluntly!) of who Tom Branson really is/was by bringing in strident, off-putting Miss Bunting. Oho! I suppose Tom was getting much too subsumed by his aristocratic in-laws, but then didn’t you love the bit about Cora blithely suggesting Tom would look at the car trouble–as in, of course you know our dear SIL was a proficient driver/mechanic–so aren’t we set? Love DA!
Slate Spoiler Special podcast is covering Downton Abbey this season! Yay! Apparently the podcasts will be coming out after every episode!!
What on earth is the difference in discussing and analyzing this fiction vs. doing the same thing all the time when we discuss books??? LOL. We often ask in book discussions questions like “what could motivate a person to…”
VaBluebird – my thoughts exactly. Yes, DA is a TV show; we all know that. Yes, novels are full of fictional characters; we all know that, too. Considering how wildly popular book clubs are, I’d say there are lots of people who enjoy discussing books and their characters. Nothing to get all wound up about, IMO.
I understand that it is fiction, but it adapted to the times. It is interesting to see how people lived then, and you do become somewhat invested. I am not as invested in these characters as I have been in other shows. I have beloved book characters too. I watched Gilmore girls for years with my daughter and loved believing they were real, and secretly think there really is a Stars Hollow.
I’m disappointed that there doesn’t seem to be a “IF DA took place entirely on Facebook” recap this season
surfcity – Me too! I loved all the ones from last season; SO funny and well done.
I miss the Facebook recap, too! Where is it?
Now I know how to pronounce Plantagenet!
