I bought the 5th series of Downton Abby -DVD and watched all the remaining episodes and decided to watch the PBS version tonight. I was so surprised. There were several scenes shown on the PBS version tonight that was NOT on the DVD (UK Version). It wasn’t much different but I definitely liked the additional scenes. That is so strange. I wonder why they differ slightly?
Poor Cora, though. She obviously was not expecting that guy and didn’t want him there. A little flirting is one thing, but having the guy show up uninvited in her bedroom quite another. I hope that dope Grantham realizes that he’s been ignoring his wife and shapes up, instead of pouting.
This episode shows the less sympathetic side of many of the Russian aristocrats considering Count Nikolai Rostov’s reaction to Lady Rose’s inadvertent leaking of information about Atticus Aldridge’s family history.
What an asshat and in retrospect, shows Miss Bunting probably was right to anger him…
Went to see the play Blithe Spirit last night and guess who was playing the male lead? Charles Edwards, the actor who played (plays) Michael Gregson! I wonder if he was written out (at least temporarily) by choice or necessity?

Has anyone else thought that the dog we now see so often isn’t the same as in the openings? This one looks much smaller.
I thought this was a good episode with a lot happening. I wonder what Edith will do about Marigold? I am ready for both that plotline and the murder story to wrap up.
Mixed feelings as I never want the show to end, but also don’t want it to go the way of shows that go on waaaaaay to long.
Lady Violet seemed very attuned to Robert’s cold attitude towards Cora at the reception/cocktail party. I fully expect her to tell him to get over it, at least I hope so. I can see that he’s mad, but I hope he heard what the art historian was saying about him not appreciating Cora.
Guess I was wrong about the foreshadowing discussion rose had with her father and thinking she and Tom would find each other. Another love interest, with more historical importance emerges.m

Wasn’t a fan last night. I know Thomas is a jerk but his whole “do the right thing” by reporting to police whatever he knows about Green is horrible in the light of how his co-workers and employers covered for him when “the right thing” for the time was to be arrested for being homosexual. They showed mercy but Thomas seems to be determined to mess with Bates and Anna.
Also, did I hear right that Edith and her aunt are going to take the baby away from Drews (the only home she’s ever known)? Sounds like they are planning a kidnapping. If so I will loose all sympathy for Edith.
When Mr. Bricker finally left the Abbey, did he actually tip Mr. Carson?? He handed him something that appeared to be folded bills. I never in a million years would have thought that appropriate, nor would I have though that Carson would have accepted it.
^ I didn’t see that, I always rewatch to get the pieces I missed so I will pay closer attn. Would seem like a note for Cora might be that explanation if he gave him something but maybe he was just taking his gloves?
