Sorry about the Viking River Cruises, everybody-- I’m one of the reasons those ads are on Downton. They worked for me. The cruises looked like so much fun, I ended up taking one last year, though not on Viking. And it was great.
Oh, fuggedaboudit! I’m the one who reopened this thread, counting down to tomorrow night, and the Packers play tomorrow night. Guess I’m watching on Monday on DVR.
^teri - In my house I’ll be upstairs watching DA while H is downstairs watching the Packers
I caught this interview yesterday by serendipity and I have an even greater appreciation for Julian Fellowes for a multitude of reasons. I had no idea that he wrote every single line of the story. What a talent!

There was a big feature in today’s San Diego paper about Darlene Shiley. Apparently she’s recognized all over due to her 10 seconds before Downton Abbey. She and her late husband have been huge local charitable contributors.
Marilyn, I think Darlene Shiley and/or Conrad Prebys only appear in front of San Diego station Masterpiece Classics, but I could be wrong.
cb, you are right about so much, but you are wrong on this one:) I live in the upper South and we see Darlene introducing Masterpiece on a regular basis.
Apparently Masterpiece Theater’s producers plied Darlene with Cosmos at Mr. A’s and got a $1 million pledge from her for Downton Abbey. http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/2016/jan/03/darlene-shiley-downtown-abbey-pbs/
We see Darlene Shiley in Northern California too. I’m assuming that her generous gift allows broadcast of Downton Abbey nationwide. Thanks, Darlene! Apparently she does a lot of other good work as well.
Thanks
Good for her! She’s national.
The article says that over $8 million of the $12 million donated to keep Downtown Abbey on PBS was donated by San Diego. Wow, you should all be thanking America’s Finest City (our slogan)!!
yep, Oklahoma too. I always just assumed they were from Oklahoma.
I didn’t want it to end
Does it ever get cold on the moral high ground?
Aaw!
A “full marriage”!
Do not read if you have not yet seen tonight’s show.
What do you think? Not sure how Mary proved to Robert that she could run anything given she did nothing about the blackmailer herself. What did I miss?
Hope the last season doesn’t focus too much on the hospital fight.
I wanted Mary to rip the check out of her hand and throw it in the fire!
OTOH, the cheeky woman reminded me too much of the schoolteacher who had her eye on Tom Branson last season.
Did anyone catch the term they were using for Isobel being the hospital administrator? I couldn’t understand them except that it started with an “A” and it was not a term I was familiar with.
Are there any 1996 Pride and Prejudice fans? I was shocked when I heard Wickam’s voice as the owner of the house that was up for auction. His voice is unmistakable.
