Downton Abbey

“Maybe that was me - I watch all my TV with closed captioning; a habit that started when the kids were little and I didn’t want them to wake up from the TV sound.”

I thought it was me only. I would be hard for me to follow the plot if I don’t know the names of the characters.
Do they soften the British accent in DA to attract more audience?

We always have captions on because of our kids - they both are deaf - but find it helps us too (both hearing).

I use captions too.

I don’t have any problem understanding the accents :D.

Reminds me of when a friend of mine had seen the Billy Elliot movie then rented if and watched it with her kids with closed caption. She had no idea how much bad language was in it till she used closed caption.

I watched a special on PBS – The Manners of Downtown Abbey. It was wonderful. It gave a good background of what the upper class social norms were back then. Very, very interesting.

Stayed up until 2:30am binge watching it to the finish. I couldn’t take the wait. It was worth it! It certainly picks up steam as it goes. Nighty night. I-)

Steam? Or steamy?

A bit of both

i cant wait! no spoilers though, please!

Poor Mrs. Drew. Mr. Fang thinks the Drews will get Mr. Mason’s farm and he’ll get Yew Tree Farm.

What is Yew Tree Farm?

And who will win the battle? Lady Mary or Mrs. Hughes? I vote for Hughes.

I missed the first 30 minutes of period 2. I have to wake up at 3:00 AM Tuesday to watch it again.

Yew Tree Farm is the Drews’ farm.

Oh, I hope Mrs. Hughes wins. It’s her wedding.

I think it’s more a question of who will win… Carson or Hughes? Rooting for Hughes

I think Mary is suggesting something nicer than the servants quarters at Downton. I hope Mrs. Hughes goes for that.

I never knew Robert could drive. I’m hoping for Mrs. Hughes to win, too.

So it appears to me that Mr. Mason will get the farm that Mr. Drewes has been tenanting since before Waterloo.

Will Anna have a baby? Will Thomas find a job? Will Edith move to London with Marigold? Will Mary remarry?

Will Barrow ever get asked to wind the clocks again?

Will Edith fire her editor?

Oh, I do hope so!!!

It’s interesting how both Edith and Mary are stepping up professionally and are running into sexist obstacles.
