Having inadvertently viewed the huge spoilers on wikipedia, I went ahead and binged through the rest of the season.
I will only say that it is satisfying. B-)

@consolation, I did too. And I don’t regret it!
I can’t understand them now showing young George as being younger than Marigold. What the heck? I wonder why they would do that?
Googled Downton Abbey timeline: This from 2013 which was Season 3: “Season one starts in 1912 and runs through August 1914; season two jumps to 1916 and runs through 1919; and this season begins in 1920.”
So, Matthew and Mary were married in 1920 and he died in 1921 so the child is just 4 years old in 1925. I found a reference saying Marigold was born late '22 or early '23 so she is only 2 or 3 years old.
I found a HUGE spoiler site. Oh my. I kinda wish I could unsee it. Not because it’s bad, just because I think I don’t want to know even though curiosity is killing me. LOL.
@Consolation and @prospect1 - I agree! The finale, in particular…
Did we ever get final word of Gregson or just that he was last scene with “brown shirts”?
I have no interest in spoilers. I love watching the show, slowly, every Sunday night.
Thanks for the spoiler warnings. I don’t want to read one of those, but must admit that my pre-order for Season 6 has been placed - to be released Jan. 26. I’ll binge on the DVDs and beat the PBS timeframe (I hope.)
So are going to hypothesis?
I think Gregson will return as Edith should not be left miserable the rest of her life.
It’s Downton. Edith never gets a break. Gregson returns in time for the wedding reception of Edith and some guy she is settling for because Marigold needs a daddy.
Very Good!
Gawd, I hope not.
I also bought the DVD. I cannot wait to get it. It’s so hard to sit and watch with no commercials. There are so many distractions at home (kids/dogs, etc). Also I can rewind it if I didn’t understand what was being said.
Someone a while back mentioned watching Downton with closed captioning turned on. Occasionally their accents makes it difficult to understand something, and the closed captioning can be helpful.
I watched yesterday and I think the break from it hurt…it seemed rather dull and predictable. WAH.
RE George and Marigold - it is not that unusual for 2- 3 year old girls to be bigger and look older than 3-4 year old boys.
@VeryHappy - sometimes we watched “The Wire” with the closed captioning turned on. Oh Snoop, I loved your character, but I could never understand what you were saying…
Maybe that was me - I watch all my TV with closed captioning; a habit that started when the kids were little and I didn’t want them to wake up from the TV sound.
I’ve been thinking about the interactions between George and Barrow this season, most of which have been facilitated by Mary, and thought that it must harken back to her relationship with Carson as a small child. There must be a reason why they have such a bond.
Well, and Barrow said he’d been carrying around Marigold on his back for several hours playing piggyback, so I have noticed they’re trying to create a softer side of Barrow… as much as I can notice something that only happens in one episode that we’ve been able to see.
