Downton Abbey

I worry about Mr. Bates and Anna. I have the feeling they won’t have a happy ending.
I think Mary will sell DA, move to the US to escape blackmail, rumors by the hotel woman and others.

question: i’m going to be out of state on Sunday - can i stream DA on PBS app? other ideas how to watch it?

You can stream it on pbs.org, but only starting Monday, I think.

@bgbg4us - it will be on the pbs.org website. I frequently watch TV shows on my laptop. They include the Viking River Cruise commercials, but it wouldn’t be Masterpiece without them.

Some (long) thoughts:
The Carson-Hughes will probably be smooth sailing, no big drama. Not sure what disaster could befall them at this point unless one of them is the one to get sick and the local hospital can’t handle it.
Edith - will get close to the altar with the new Mr Wonderful (so many talents!) but he’ll find out about Marigold before she thinks to tell him and will never trust her. I used to be proEdith, but the whole situation with the Drewes pissed me off. Mrs D took care of that child as her own, for what? 2 years? Edith just swoops in and takes her away with no consideration to the fact that she loves her and that her husband lied to her. Now they have to move? Oh, for all her poor me I’m worried while I’m away crap, Marigold still spends all her time with Nanny.
Anna and Bates - I think Julian has tired of writing about them and their woes so they will end up having a beautiful baby in the end.
Daisy - she’s going to pass her tests, move into the Drewes farm with her FIL and open a bakery in town.
Baxter and Mosely - I don’t think there’s enough time to develop a full-blown romance, but they are so cute together! I think Mosely will somehow get to use his informal education at the school.
Thomas - Mr Evil has been getting the softening up treatment to make us feel bad and forget that he was the spawn of the devil. I think hr’s getting more and more despondent and going to end up committing suicide. They’ve mentioned that he can sort of drive, so I’m seeing another traumatic car crash.
The hospital - I agree we’re heading to some dramatic need for services that the hospital can’t provide. My money is on Robert having something horrible happen related to his stomach issues. How about a ruptured ulcer since they planted the seed about his gastric problems previously and now are bringing it up again. I don’t think he’ll die, but will come close. Cora will really give it to Violet!
Isobel - Merton is around a lot. Think she’s going to say screw the sons, marry him and lord it over Violet!
Violet - she’s going to outlive them all. Her comeuppance will be when Robert almost dies because she hung on to the hospital.
Mary - I really don’t care what happens to her! She’s been really annoying me. I suppose the race car driver will return and drive off with her into the sunset while Edith weeps in the background.
Denker and Spratt - They could suddenly fall in love, but I doubt it! As long as Violet keeps her guessing about her future, I’m good with that!

Back then, only the wealthy could afford a dress that she’d wear once. For the “common folk”, I think drab colors were the norm as they were easier to care for, lasted longer, and didn’t draw “unnecessary attention” to oneself. And I’d think that the servants of Downton would need very few clothes that weren’t their uniforms. Maybe only their Sunday go-to-church wear.

I think Mary will end up with Tom. She looked VERY happy to see him. And yeah, he is her brother in law, but heck her first husband was her cousin!

I think the indigestion is a red herring.

And I think anna will continue to be infertile, and Carson and Hughes will have an unexpected pregnancy and gladly hand over the baby for Anna and Bates to adopt

Anna’s not infertile. She has an incompetent cervix. But the cerclage usually works well for that issue.

Michelle Dockery grew up in the East End of London. She spoke in some early interviews about how she had to learn the posh accent because that was decidedly not her background!

Mrs. Hughes is too old to get pregnant. She’s easily in her 50s.

VeryHappy–you’re never too old–my boyfriend in HS was born when his mom was 56. His nearest sibling was 12 or 15 years older than him

And while I do like Anna despite the constant tears (guess your husband’s possible hanging does qualify though) I sincerely hope that we don’t spend the rest of the series worried about her weak cervix. What the heck do the writers know about that anyway? Next topic.
Maybe more on the prize pigs.

I think he’s going to be the one who steps in and basically saves Robert from whatever happens to him - ruptured ulcer, or heart attack, by rushing (driving) him to the nearest hospital that can treat him, when the local one can’t. So they will all be forever grateful and that’s how he’ll end up being offered Carson’s job.

^^ Oh I like that - and Robert doesn’t have to die. The Bateses can still name the baby after him, though. And when the Carsons retire, Anna gets to be the new head of housekeeping.

Or else Robert dies, Cora decides to return to America, Mary marries Mr. Richie Rich, and Edith takes care of all the children in her flat in London. Then there is no household and all the servants have to find other positions. Bates and Anna open a B&B. The Carsons retire and begin a garden. Daisy moves in with Mr. Tenant Farmer (sorry; forgot his name) and learns the business. Mrs. Patmore opens a tea shop with lots of baked goods.

Just being silly. :))

Opera- I’m ahead of Anna! I’m already the head of housekeeping much to my dismay. Funny–nobody seems to be after this job position.

New scenario–Barrows drives Robert to hospital but has an accident on the way. AAA doesn’t show up timely but that ultimately doesn’t matter because they hadn’t called in for pre-approval on the operation that Robert needed anyway. Robert thankfully recovers though because Violet gives him a shot of whiskey (hidden in her cane) which everyone already knows does you more good than any doctor’s medicine.
Isobel frowns in disapproval.
Violet says, “There are more things in heaven and earth, Isobel, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.”

gouf you scare me…56!!!

I read the spoilers as they came out last fall. Now you guys have me confused as to what really happened and your versions of what’s to come. I can’t share any spoilers because I really don’t remember anymore.

Of course I don’t think Robert’s chest pains are a sign of anything because I don’t even remember them from the episode I just watched. Twice! (I always watch them on Monday because there is too much commotion when the show is airing.)

Oh come on everyone, I was trying (unsuccessfully I see) to be funny! I know Anna’s not infertile but I just said that as shorthand LOL. I also realize that Mrs Hughes is probably past menopause, that’s why I thought it was funny.

But apparently not.
