I may be in the minority here, but I much prefer Mary to Edith.
A couple of observations:
Mary said to Tom in the latest episode: “You are my brother.” So nothing will be happening between the two of them.
Mr. Carson suggested that everyone continue to call his wife Mrs. Hughes. She did not suggest it nor did she have any reaction. I don’t know if she likes it!
I think the story from Gwen about Sybil showed Mary a new way to be. She might start thinking about people other than herself.
And Daisy is going to become a teacher, a la Miss Bunting.
You all have to be like our house - replaying every episode ad nauseum (amazon prime thank you) until you have every detail memorized and analyzed
I did not know Amazon Prime has it. I will watch as much as possible tonight.
When can we fully discuss? Do we need to wait for people using PBS?
“When can we fully discuss? Do we need to wait for people using PBS?”
YES!!!
No spoilers!!
NO SPOILERS!!!
If people who have watched the whole season want to discuss, it would be perfectly appropriate for them to start a separate SPOILER thread, so long as the title of the thread includes the word “Spoiler.”
Or start a new thread for those who have seen the whole season.
Please no spoilers
The comment to Robert about the Dowerger not being at his funeral, his pains and the who hospital argument make me think, as I said, he will die or at least come close. I also think it will tie into the whole hospital dispute.
I’ve always preferred Mary to Edith. But I’m starting to like Edith more recently. Although I also liked her when she was acting as a nurse when the house was turned into a hospital during the war. She needs to be a working woman.
MODERATOR’S NOTE:
Yes. However as mentioned above, there is no reason a spoiler thread cannot be started for those of us who have seen the whole season.
Henry Talbot was definitely playing it cool and aloof at the restaurant. If you recall when he and Mary first met in last year’s Christmas special, she expressed much more interest in him than he did in her.
Since her husband Matthew died as a result of speeding in a car, you would think that a race car driver would be a turn-off for Mary?
I just checked Amazon. Season 6 is not free to prime membership. I will wait for PBS instead of paying $20 to Amazon.
There is a free PBS app. You can watch recent PBS shows for a certain amount of time after they air. DA Season 6 episodes 3andd 4 are currently available. Obviously, this doesn’t work for those who want to jump ahead but if you miss a show you can see it on the app–or just replay scenes where you may have missed something.
The speeding car thing with Henry Talbot feels like foreshadowing to me, i.e. something is going to happen to him. I need a refresher course; I recognized him in this last show but can’t remember the backstory, who exactly he is, how Mary first me him etc.
Henry Talbot came as someone’s guest to the shooting party held by Lord Sinderby, Atticus’ father. Because he was there, Atticus couldn’t shoot–apparently only a certain number could do so–and Mary chided him about it. Sparks flew. Matthew Goode is an outstandingly attractive and charming actor.
I remember now! thanks.
Matthew Goode was also on The Good Wife.
And he was in the movie about the breaking of the Enigma code with Benedict Cumberbatch.
