Did anyone else think Robert was a little off? He was rude to his sister at the end of dinner (I forgot exactly what he said) and then, when Edith questioned the name he gave the dog, he said something about Edith being stupid. Seemed rather out of character.
So happy for Moseley and I can’t believe I’m actually feeling sorry for Barrows. I do hope Edith comes clean about Marigold; no way to start a marriage and then spend the rest of your life wondering if your secret will be discovered some day. I also thought Edith and Mary actually got along and almost seemed supportive of one another a few times this episode. Can’t wait for next week!
.Teos was a pharaoh and the dog is female, so I’m confused. She doesn’t look like a “good” yellow lab. Maybe she’s a golden. I was just thinking during opening credits where you still see Isis that I wish they’d get a dog.
I too am happy for Mr Molesly, but I hope things work out for Barrows. I found it sad when he mentioned that Downton was the only place felt at home in. Made me sad for him.
I picked up a vibe between Edith’s editor (Laura ?) and Tom Branson.
and why another tragic car death? really?? was it too easy to just let Mary get over her fear, guy wins race, family cheers??? no, you have to kill him off in a crash? I thought if anything that was unnecessary. Anyone else think Violet
will not return? Hmmmm?
Edith will tell what’s-his-name about Marigold, and he’ll be fine with it.
Tom and the Lady Editor will become an item.
Mary will wind up with Tony Gillingham at last. (Not certain about this one but there was a hint of it in the “stay tuned for scenes from next week’s episode.”)
Violet will die while in the south of France.
Barrow will kill himself.
Daisy will ride off into the sunset with a non-service job – perhaps at the local Socialist headquarters.
Isobel will marry Lord Merton and convince him to leave all of his worldly possessions not to his sons but to some worthwhile cause – perhaps the hospital.
Cora finds new strengths in herself while leading the hospital.
Andy will quickly learn to read from the local schoolteacher (who has suddenly become quite influential, hasn’t he) and will take over from Mr. Mason on the farm. Mr. Mason and Mrs. Patmore will settle down together in Mrs. Patmore’s B&B, and Mrs. Patmore will become 100% involved in running that.
There is still a loose end I haven’t figured out – Baxter and the evil Mr. Coyle. It appears as if she is going to visit him in prison. I wonder what that will lead to.
Who was the sneaky little guy hiding outside the B&B writing something on a pad when Mrs. Patmore left for Downton after preparing breakfast for the guests? What’s up with that?
I don’t think Edith’s editor and Tom will become a couple. There are not many episodes left to foster that relationship.
Why did Fellowes let Tom hear Mary ended the relationship with her beau?
Oooo, @patsmom, I forgot about that. I’m going to hazard a guess and assume it’s something positive. Like, he’s Mr. Fodor, and he’s going to write up Mrs. Patmore’s B&B in his new book about the best B&Bs in England, or some such.
@bgbg4us, Funny about your DH liking the cars. Mine did, too even though not really a car guy. He wondered where they got all the old models. I thought the race was boring, but I guess Fellowes knows two genders may be watching his show!
I think Moseley leaving service to teach school may have bought Barrow a modicum of job security. But he may be demoted to first frontman, which will not sit well with him.
@patsmom & @VeryHappy – i think it’ll be a write up too; and i liked how she made the best breakfast she could for the doctor staying there. I’m sure it was above excellent!
@bgbg4us I agree Tom’s presence during the breakup call, and his advice may be hint, that the big romantic ending may be that she heeds Tom’s advice. I predict she and Henry do reconcile.
After all, we all do adore Tom and want him happy, and he is so fond of Henry. I do see a match for Tom with the new editor who like, Sybil, represents the modern woman.
My favorite line in the show was when Violet said she was writing a letter to Tom about her plans, as he is the one with the most common sense…or something very close to that. Quite the statement from Violet, given her initial reaction to Sybil’s marriage!
Given his past writing, my guess is that there will be some twists and turns before either Mary or Edith are settled into their relationships. Nothing can be easy on DA!
