“I wore short white gloves on dressy occasions like Easter when I was very young in the 60s and early 70s” - Me too!

My daughter recently wore long white gloves to a military ball. It was required - if the ladies weren’t wearing a floor-length white dress, white elbow-length gloves and white shoes, they were not admitted.

But then, they weren’t dining in their own home. ;)

More fun with gloves…

“For strippers, black mesh is probably better, and black mesh with appliqued sequins even better.” Practical stuff – thanks, dragonmom!

Poor Mary…every man she has slept with is dead!

I am thinking that they are giving Mary a love interest too soon after Matthew’s death because it IS too soon. We can’t have Mary - who could have brought horrific scandal to the house - being perceived as Saint Mary, the widow who solely devotes herself the baby heir.

Funniest post of the thread! :D

Now that Daisy is a woman of means, I’d be disappointed not to see some male action. Mr. Mason, Williams’s father, has already given her the green light.

“Mr. Selfridge” debuts this Sunday in the DA time slot. Maybe Lady Rosamund will do a pop-in for the grand opening.

Good news that Mrs.Gardiner from Pride and Prejudice is joining the show.

And a new season of Call the Midwife begins this Sunday too, in the hour before Selfridge.

Thanks for the recommendation of “Call the Midwife.” I really enjoy it - great show! Great acting.

Here’s something to amuse you all while waiting for season 4

According to the survey, I’m in the Elite class. I disagree but it’s fun pretending!

Emergent service worker here, which I can’t really disagree with

Anyone else starting to look forward to January 5th?

The Today show interviewer kept talking to Brendon Coyle as if he were a butler instead of a valet. I wonder if there is a shift for him this year or she is just unfamiliar with his role in the series.

I looked at the picture and thought to myself, “Good grief. He’s a LOT younger than Mary.” I checked: 27 vs. 32. I wish they had picked someone more age appropriate, but maybe make up will make the difference.

Can’t wait. Since The Paradise ended a few weeks ago I’ve had nothing to watch.

Also, in case anyone is interested - there will be a Call The Midwife holiday special Dec. 29th.

I think the last time I wore white gloves was 1964 when I was in third grade.

According to that survey, I closely match new affluent workers. Am thinking that comes from knowing and hanging out with people from all walks of life along with my varied musical tastes.
