All others posted their final selections, we’ve been waiting to hear what you’ll select!! (I have to admit, I would pick my dress first, before any wedding details!! ;))

Good luck with the three you’ve ordered…hope one of them is the one!!

JEM, Countingdown and Merlin all seem to have final contenders…your D’s wedding is around the corner…June, right?? Good luck with trying them on…keep us posted!

Because of this thread, Nordstrom, Coldwater, and a bunch of other stores are stalking me now. I might have to buy a dress even with no wedding or occasion on the horizon…

LOL cpt! I am so not a dress person! I will say, this thread and the store stalkingness were greatly helpful. I’m so more stressed about the wedding coming off well than what I look like (heck, it’s unlikely anyone will talk me into makeup, or anything with my hair besides my usual pony tail.)

Sorry, posted too soon! Those are the candidates. Came today. Tried on once, haven’t made my mind up yet. The teal one is my favorite color but I’m not sure it looks as good on me. The capped sleeve one probabaly looks best but I’m not sure. The other one is a bit purpley.

thanks! I was so afraid they’d all be too tight across my very ample hips/thighs, but they all drape nicely. Even if I havaen’t made up my mind yet, it’s nice to know I will hav a dress! (seeing as it’s a month from tomorrow!)

Garland, I like the first one the best and am thinking of getting it for me! All very nice dresses. My favorite though was that Coldwater Creek dress with all of those flecks of sea colors. Not my colors, but I love the dress, but probably not substantial enough to be a MOB dress, but oh, so pretty and airy.

You’ll need a shawl or sweater with them in case it gets chilly.

Modalum, I love your dress. What color will it be. I want that outfit too! This thread is getting me in the mood for shopping, but I don’t have a date for a MOG/B dress.

The three dresses are all very nice and quite similar! I sense a pattern going on here! ;)

Whichever one you feel the best in is probably the winner…does your D or H have an opinion?

Yikes, wedding is one month away?

cpt: I am SO not ready to be MOG yet. I was at yearly OB app. last week and new Doctor asked me if I had any grandchildren yet…I said I had better not, my kids are 20 and 17! ;)

garland: depending on what dress you select and what color, they have these beautiful short cardigans in the same color to match the dress in many stores…or even a short sparkly cardigan!

Garland if you are planning on getting one of those sheet little cardigans/shrugs, I urge u to do so early. Last year they sold out much earlier than I anticipated.

Did I ever try on the Coldwater Creek dress?

I’m not ready to be a MOG yet, but I can sure enjoy those dresses! I could have used this thread last year for my son’s graduation. I brought my standby navy Talbot dress to wear, and it just didn’t seem be right when I got there. So I did a quick last minute shopping and picked up some outfits at an Ann Taylor, none of them as nice as these. But, ladies, I got some great shawls that will do me for the rest of my life.

Puzzled88, I did! However, the good news is I will be able to wear it to D’s graduation at the end of the month.

I thought it might be too fancy for graduation, but found out from D they dress up at her school’s ceremony.

It was such a bargain I decided to purchase it even if it was too dressy for graduation, figuring I would need to attend a wedding someday! It was over 90% off:

D left today after a visit of several days. I addressed my MOB dress challenge problem with her and only after discussing it for a few minutes did I fill her in that an online support group of people I had never met in person had come to my aid! :)

She asked me to model the dresses and she loved the top contender (and I had not given her any background re favorites).

I am very grateful for the help from this group.

D actually liked a couple of the other options as well, and I may hold onto one of them for other events. H and I are at the point in life where our friends’ kids are marrying, and if I can spare myself some future clothes shopping it is a bonus.

By the way, as others have mentioned, Nordstrom’s free shipping and no hassle returns policy is great!

Garland, I see that you too are using Nordstrom’s. Your choices are all lovely and I especially like the teal color as well. Could be really nice for a seaside setting!

I do concur with those who recommend a shawl or special cardigan for the evening breezes.

I’m so happy for you and that your D liked the dress! Yay! Your neighbor liked it too and it really looks beautiful on-line in that purple color…not available any longer? Glad you snagged it when you did! Plus it’s a petite size, right?? Awesome.

What other dresses did you still have and will keep? (Inquiring minds would like to know!;))

So who’s our next victim, I mean dress shopper?
JEM’s dress-beautiful!
Countingdown’s dress-beautiful!
Merlin’s dress-beautiful!
garland’s contender’s-beautiful!
college_query snagged a dress at 90% off…way to go!

garland, Have you considered taking the dress you like to a tailor to see if you can refine the fit? And since you issued the challenge, even if you normally wear little to no makeup, it generally looks better to wear a little more than you are used to for the photos. The camera magnifies everything.

I also still like the Dillard’s sage green dress with jacket, as did D. <a href=“Access Denied”>Access Denied;
So I will likely keep one of these two in my closet for the future. May leave that choice up to H.

Thanks again, all! You have been SO helpful. I have very little interest or skill in dressing myself, but really do want to look nice for D’s wedding, and you have made it possible for me to look and feel good on that day. I will be thinking of you gratefully!
