Dressing Young 2025

Bummer. :frowning: Good fitting black pants are so hard to find! IMO, all brands shifted to more casual styles. I finally found some that were not yoga pants but they cost $$$!

I agree with the others—#2 lets the pants be the star and are amazing. The others are nice as well.

My problem is that I’m ok with spending some money on a good pair of black pants but not a lot of money.

I may just order a pair of the spanx ponte pants in the fall and be done. I really liked the stretch crepe of the Eileen Fischer but they are a little lightweight for my winters. But I might revisit them later.

The models at Nordstrom are about 5’ 10”, so an ankle length pant on them would be just-touching-the-floor length on an average height person. I think the designer was brilliant making them this length! Because they work both as ankle, just below the ankle, and full length pants! Otherwise, hemming would be a nightmare!

I just tried them on with my Doen blouse, and they look great.

Back to the bathing suits - lately I’m liking Albion Fit.

They are very well-made. I’ve decided to leave my swim skirt era behind. I like the high waisted bottoms and one-pieces.

Love their prints. I think I’m not going to buy any swimsuits this year but you never know. I’m picky about fit and while I love the look of a one piece on I hate getting them off when wet. I also find a lot of the fabrics take a long time to dry and I hate laying in a wet suit.
For those of you who have tried the higher waist bottoms do you have a problem with the waist band turning or with a muffin top? My stomach area is where I carry my weight so I’m not sure how they would work.
My Anthropologie order arrives today. Hoping I like the blouse and dress. I find it hard to order online from them as I never know what size to order.

I tried on one of the high waist ones last year. Well, unlike when I was in my 30’s with nice taut skin, the band just pushed out a tiny muffin top on the sides. I was surprised and saddened.

I hate one pieces because it just accentuates my tummy in profile. I look best in a 2 piece that fits up a little higher, but still below the belly button. Then I put on a swim cover up. Lol!

I can’t see any world for me where a two piece showing some skin in the mid area is a better choice than a one piece! That middle area no matter how I look at it at 65 is a little jiggly - a one piece helps to hold in and hide simply cause it’s not exposed!

I did buy one suit last year that is a 2 piece with the bottoms being sort of like boy shorts not entirely fitted at the legs. It’s fine, I’ll wear it in our pool or on a secluded beach with immediate family but I’m not comfortable wearing it around others.

Different body types look better than others in different suits. I know you were talking for yourself. “For me” one pieces accentuate the long torso with the pooch (from the side) and make my legs look short. Having skin showing in the middle balances everything out.

We do a lot of sailing. On a sailboat a two piece works much better for me. I’m in and out of wet suits all day. I prefer the same bottom as @conmama. I wear a coverup when not in the water as I also don’t like a lot of sun on my body. If I’m at a pool with a lot
Of people I will wear a one piece. For Italy this spring I’m thinking two piece and sun shirt. It’s easy to throw a skirt or dress over a two piece. It’s also easier to slip out of under the skirt.

I just bought the cutest tie dye cover up maxi dress from Venus. It comes in blue, turquoise or pink. It looks just like the stock model. So lightweight, but actually with the right underwear, could wear as a sundress. Probably won’t. But we stop at restaurants on the lake, and it’s cute to put over a suit and look a bit more pulled together.

Yes, I’ve been seeing their ads and some of the suits are so pretty! However, a couple that I liked seemed to not have much support or padding in the top. I did end up ordering two one-piece suits from Boden and if they don’t work I may try Albion.

I keep as much sun off me as possible and love my Lands End suit.

Not sure what the hassle is. Perhaps TMI, but the pull-aside works just fine.

I like two piece suits for the convenience. I do have a bikini that I will only wear in our own back yard with no one other than husband around. I’ve learned that the little skirt styles are tricky to wear in the hot tub due to them ballooning up, but are fine in the pool.

Our pool is the reason why I had to increase my swim suit collection.

I don’t think anyone cares what I look like in my two piece suits on the beaches of Hawaii. Hardly a single piece suit in sight! Mostly triathletes training. Lots of people wear rash guards over their 2-pieces.

For me, the upper support is the most important thing.

I was afraid of the 2-piece and showing skin but then I noticed more and more women my age just wearing what they want regardless of body imperfections. On a recent vacation, where no one would know me, I took the plunge with a high waist bottom and a long line crop top. It left about 2" of skin exposed. I didn’t die, no one seemed repulsed or seemed to even care. I was proud of myself :slightly_smiling_face: You’ll never see me in a string bikini but I felt pretty confident.

I wish I could do water activities but being even in tepid HI water gives me hives and makes me so uncomfortable, I don’t bother any more. That means I no longer have to hunt for the perfect swimwear. My H isn’t a water person either, which is a little crazy because we live a very short walk from the beach. Our S did buy a foldable kayak that he stores on his dresser and has used it from time to time. D used to paddle an outrigger canoe competitively as a pre-teen and teenager.

Did you get your top? Mine came yesterday and they sent the wrong print. I ordered the neutral one but received the ivory pattern. I’m trying to decide if I’ll return it and reorder or just keep the one they sent.

The same happened to me! I got the ivory print also. Which was sold out per the website. So strange

Hopefully I uploaded the photo with my face cropped out. :joy: couldn’t crop out the tags on the jeans!

I think it’s cute. I think it looks good with the jeans. I’m inclined to keep it.

Looks great! This is the print I was eyeing, but it was sold out! Keep it.
