Dressing Young 2025

I don’t usually have much luck with that style of laces. I have a high instep and it usually bothers the top of my foot.
Last trip I wore my Allbirds but all my present pairs have holes in the toe. They also weren’t ideal for cobblestones.

Cobblestones are a killer. Even my 1st pair of Taos flat sandles, with medium thick soles, were unstable on cobblestones.

In Florence in Oct 2023, 80% of the people wore sneakers (often white, black or white/black). The rest were a mix of sandals, hiking boots, low dress shoes (or block/wedge shoes). Only one person I saw had high heels, and she was at the elite hotel areas not walking far.

When we were in Italy - including 3 days of walking around Venice the shoes I wore most of the time were Keen Sandals. I think it was in early October, but it was still warm.

We were in awe watching young Russian women navigate the cobblestones of Saint Petersburg in their high heels back when we were lucky enough to visit that beautiful city. They were completely unfazed by the terrain, hopping through like mountain goats!

I just ordered the NB from Nordstrom. Thanks for the suggestion.

I love Taos shoes! I have had multiple pairs of sandals and a pair of sneakers that zip so I don’t have to untie them. I have high arches and wide feet and they always fit well. I’m due for a new pair of sneakers this year!

On Europe travels, daytime is usually pant. I’ve recently worn dark gray running shoes (sprayed with water repellant) and black tie shoes with black pants and gray pants. At night I wear nicer (but still comfortable) shoes and dressier top. Also a black travel jumper for variation.

This time last year we were in France. I brought my NB running shoes (black) and a pair of Blondo booties. Other than the restaurants in Paris, people were wearing runners/trainers/sneakers everywhere. I brought along a couple of skorts and wore my NB with them. In Paris, it was a nicer pair of pants with the Blondos.

I wore the same shoes in Germany in December. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

My sister swears by Rothy’s, but I’ve never tried them. I might have to give them a go.

Check their store in U Village if you are ever in that area. That’s where I got my Rothy’s.

I wore Cariuma sneakers all around Europe (the OCA Low). I have several pairs of these - love them!

I have a pair of Rothy’s sandals. Despite all the hype (and the high price tag), they aren’t super comfortable. I don’t reach for them.

For those interested Cariuma is having a sale using the code ENDOFSEASON. The OCA Low in canvas, are $36. Not sure about other shoes as I only looked at these. I received an email yesterday as I had recently purchased OCA Low in leather.

Their return was easy with a drop off at a UPS Store or others just like with an Amazon return; not packaging needed.

Tempting but they are final sale, no returns

Wouldn’t you know I was there yesterday to stock up on Nespresso pods. Next time!

In the summer I get really hot in sneakers, so I wear my vionic silver sandals with arch support. Also, I’m a 10W so sneakers aren’t really cute on me. They are just for exercise.

I told someone I’d put the pics of the Black Bayeas lace jeans when they arrive. These fit one size small, so I had to order up to a 30.

I’ll save for fall. They are cute, although I like the blue ones better. But the sparkles really show up irl above the lace. Not sure what top I’ll wear. Not craz

y about these, plus I don’t wear black by my face.

Looks fab! If you don’t like black close to your face, I bet a white leather peplum top would look great with these pants.

I just saw that Nordstrom increased the regular price for the Bayeas lace pants from $89 to $119! Glad I got mine at the lower price.

I’m afraid tariffs are going to put a damper on my re-wardrobing. It was fine post-surgery when I was in loose joggers and exercise leggings, but now I’m back in regular clothes and just about everything I own is too big. The plastic surgeon and I agree that losing 10-15 lbs before my clean-up surgery, if you will, in November would be a plus. That’s at least one more size down, so I need to be prudent.

I should do a big purge tomorrow and Thursday while H is at our other place, and then figure out what I truly need. (I think he’d be better off not knowing how much I’m getting rid of.)

I think I will be shopping RealReal even more often… My big concern is the shortages that can happen because the manufacturers decide not to ship to the US. Some carmakers are already halting shipments (Audi and Land Rover).

I need a new entryway rug. Off to Amazon to order before any shortages start!

I just went on a small shopping spree - shoes, sheets, pants, socks (and Seattle coffee). Son also has been stocking up on stuff he’d been procrastinating about so yay for that, at least. Neither of us dress young but at least we’re well shod now!
