Love this dress! Which color are you getting?
I was thinking hot pink or artichoke. Not opposed to the indigo blue. My daughter who like her grandmother loves red is thinking cherry red!
I have been eyeing up and loving the cutaway vest top look: Banana Republic Factory
I think it looks so elegant, and is suitable for day or night.
Cute! Nice that it has pockets. As shown, it’s shorter than I’d like… but models are a lot taller than me, so probably ok.
I keep getting targeted ads for this dress. In navy because I wear a lot of navy. I’m guessing
It’s similar to a dress that I got last year, that one is blue and white stripes. Very nice for hot days.
Models are usually 5’ 9” or taller. It would be a good length for an average person.
Looking at the “Size and Fit,” this is what it says:
Vests are a big thing this season it seems. That vest is very nice!

Just bought this for a work dress.
I like that style.
I’ve also considered that linen dress from Quince. Garnet Hill sells a similar one but it’s more $.
A line denim dress. I don’t like very constraining clothes.

I am only 5’4 1/2”, and I could never wear a dress that short. I’m not even comfortable in a dress that is 36”, preferring a 37” length. Maybe it’s my long torso?? They wind up even shorter on me?? Even though I am reasonably trim and exercise regularly (including running), the flesh above my knees looks horrible.
And, while I also love those swingy type A-line dresses on others (so nice for hot weather), those are a, “no,” for me as well. I really need something that defines my waist. In those type dresses I just feel like I look much bigger than I am as they just hang straight down from my girls (not that I am that buxom).
Gosh - maybe this is why I cannot find clothes - I may be too dang picky. I just prefer tailored clothes - that have shape. That seems to equate to dressier or business attire, and I don’t have a need for that type of clothing.
So many clothes for so many preferences! I guess that is the plus of having choices and not being limited to one style.
I like flowy stuff (flowy to a degree) because I feel it suits my lifestyle and my personality. Throughout the day I’m going to be walking the dog, petting the dog, watering plants/gardens, sitting at a desk, etc - I hate having tailored and/or restricting clothing!
My legs are far from perfect. I have some of the creppy skin that @conmama mentions. I am 65 and my legs have served me well through lots of fitness activity but they are 65 years old and so not perfect. So be it. More important to me to accept that leg imperfection and wear the things I want to wear (don’t worry I’m not putting on a mini skirt!).
We all do what we have to do mentally. For me that is to have comfort, savor that time of year when I can wear shorts and shorter skirts/dresses and have FREEDOM on my legs!
My skin is me and my legs have 65 years worth of wear and tear and miles on them. They are imperfect but they are me.
Like that! ![]()

This style is apparently called a “tent dress” I have a few Max Mara work dresses of this style. Slightly shaped at the shoulders and becoming much looser going down. Got mine off resale sites. The price is very attractive here!
In the fall and winter I often wear tights with those dresses and boots. I am 5’2" and petite. Most of the time those dresses come down to my knees. I wear a lot of solid colors: black, brown, blue, white, tan.
Yes to this in the winter!
I’m totally with you on this. I love the long swingy ankle length dresses. They look so dang cute on people. I went shopping today for 3 hours and came home with one from Loft. It seemed so darling in the dressing room, then at home I looked like a tent. I just can’t pull it off. One of my good friends does and I want to look as cute as her. But our bodies are different and I can’t.
I look best in a defined natural waist dress. And I couldn’t find any I liked today, I looked everywhere. I can’t do shifts or a-line. My hips look huge. I came home a bit defeated. I love so many occasion dresses, but I have no occasions. I’ll keep looking. So many dresses with the higher waist.
I think that’s why I end up defaulting to jumpsuits lots of times.
I’m going to one of my favs and shop tomorrow after my dismal fail today at the mall.
Same!
I ordered 2 dresses for this baby shower in 2 weeks. The sleeveless one I think I will wear a denim jacket (I just read that denim jackets aren’t in but I’m old lol), the other has long sleeves but is shorter. Hopefully one will look good. I’ve gained a bit of weight and my dresses are old or this crowd has seen them.
This dress is also a possibility
Feels a bit fussy but it looks good on me. I like prints but this one feels like a lot of print for the occasion.

I wish I had a reason to buy new dresses! I seldom need them and have several old favorites that fit and look good so am behaving myself.
Chico’s might be an option for those of you looking for something outside of ruffled and peasant styles, which I also do not like. (I am not a ruffly type of woman.) I was surprised by how many loose dresses they had (no waist, etc.)
This might be fun for a garden party type of event.
This could be dressed up or dressed down.
This one could hide a multitude of flaws.
Another possibility is Coldwater Creek but I didn’t like their dresses as much. This is one that looks versitile.
I actually like all of them, but if I remember correctly aren’t you 5’2”? If so I think the 3rd is a lot of fabric, I’d have to see it in you.
Love both the 1st and 2nd. I also read about denim jackets, but I think it was more the basic look. Jackets with a little something are trendy. Personally, I doubt eliminating any will get far.
