How tall are you, bookworm?
No to the belt. I think it looks fine/good, but if it feels a little too big consider a smaller size.
Those are very popular right now, flats in that color combo. I like them.
Yes, it’s too big. You need to go down a size.
I bought Lifestride Giovanna 2. I wore a long dress thought. Not sure if you would like the style with a short dress. They were very comfortable and I wear a wide width, too.
Zappos has the most colors. They have a lovely platina shade that would go well with the gold.
@bookworm, no to belt.
Go down a size.
You can play around with length. I have two “shapeless” dresses like this, and with a bit more of my legs exposed, they look happily, intentionally loose and blousy. A little longer and the overall impression is one of a sack covering something large (me!) This may depend on the shape of your legs.
I like the dress.
I am also in the, “Go down a size,” camp.
Looks very cute and comfy though!
Can we talk about jewelry? Fun jewelry - not fine jewelry.
I haven’t bought any new costume jewelry (or fine jewelry, for that matter) in forever.
What is, “in”? Do you wear a lot of jewelry? A little? None? Somewhere I once read that too much jewelry can age you. Sort of a, “less is more,” idea. Do we agree?
I like to at least wear a pair of earrings. Sometimes a necklace. But, for some reason, I am feeling like I should be wearing more than just that. Or bigger. Or something
I always have a pair of earrings in but they are is usually simple small hoops or similar. I have one necklace that it’s special to me that I wear if I’m wearing a necklace - for work or if I’m going out for something. I have a gold (like, GOLD) bangle that I NEVER take off - it’s is part of me like my arms or legs - my mom brought it from Morocco when she came over after meeting/marrying my dad and she brought brought several so a few of us have them. Besides my wedding ring that is about it!
BUT I have noticed more recently how accessories like jewelry can bring alive a simple plain outfit. I am likely not enthused enough to start buying more though!
I wish I could accessorize but I’m terrible at it. Whenever I try to find costume jewelry, it always seems cheap looking to me and I give up on it. I have a friend who is excellent at it. She used to sell from one of the popular costume jewelry companies (the name escapes me) and she has so many complete sets that she wears. She also has short hair so you can always see her earrings. I have long-ish hair, and no one can see what earrings I wear unless they were massive hoops.
I used to do scarves with my outfits in the winter but now they make me too hot. I miss them ![]()
The young gals are still wearing the simple thin necklaces, but with several strands. I do still wear those if I’m wearing statement earrings. I think anything is fine with earrings, tiny or large.
I found I’m getting tired of the simple necklaces, so gravitating more towards a “smallish” understated statement necklace. (And small earrings when I wear that).
@bookworm, I got a targeted ad on instagram of that dress, I think sizing down one would help.
The dress was more fitted on the models. Hard to say if it was clipped in the back. I did think even with the dress being more fitted, the armholes looked loose to me
very cute, but too big! size down, for sure.
I am not a statement piece girl. I wear a combination of quality and costume pieces. My everyday look includes:
My watch, which is my favorite (and only expensive) piece. I usually pair it with a costume bangle or three. My favorite is this one (in silver).
I usually wear a necklace - I have a collection of simple thin strand necklaces that I rotate through, sometimes wearing two at once. I have a lovely evil-eye one that my D24 bought for me in Greece that I wear most often.
I wear gold hoops most often (I have a ton of hair and anything more delicate gets lost). If I’m wearing my hair back, I sometimes wear a pair of cz studs.
My daily wear sounds very similar. I wear an apple watch though I would like a nice watch someday. I have a diamond/platinum watch that was my grandmother’s and though it is lovely it no longer works and is not my style.
I have several nice pieces from my mom/grandmother that I pair with costume pieces. Usually wear small gold somewhat chunky hoops or diamond studs.
Love to layer simple gold necklaces and/or pair them with some from grandmother. I do not like heavy/statement type necklaces or earrings for that matter.
I love bracelets - I have a beautiful gold chunky ish bangle that was my mom’s. I was recently gifted a Miranda Frye bangle which I really like.
Since some of the pieces I inherited are platinum ( including my wedding band ) I do mix metals. I’m not really into colored jewelry.
I love the Michele watches!
I do, too. It was a surprise indulgence xmas gift from my H back in 2016 (he is not one to buy jewelry) and I still love it as much as I did the day I got it. It is 100% my style.
If I ever had $$$ to burn, I would love the same watch in 18k gold. I have thought about buying this one as a more reasonable and attainable sub for the days I want to go all yellow gold.
That’s so pretty - I love the clasp detail.
I can’t wear any earrings other than platinum for more than a few hours. So I rarely take my tiny diamond studs out. I also replaced my tiny white gold chain with a platinum one, and now I can leave my necklace on all the time. I highly recommend platinum to those who have issues with other metals.
I’m still liking smaller necklaces so I usually wear two (one simple gold adjustable chain with a small diamond pendant and a delicate gold-filled beaded necklace). I usually have a stack of small beaded bracelets, but depending on the outfit I like these Bhuda girl bangles. I love that they don’t make noise.
I got this ring for Christmas and I usually wear it on my right pointer finger with some more dainty gold rings on my right ring finger.
And I always wear earrings!
