Dressing Young 2025

It’s a good casual dress for my lifestyle. I can wear it on a hot day for WFH and look fine on the Zoom screen. It will be easy to pack for a casual dinner out on a beach vacation.

I have an Apple watch, but I confess to not wearing it every day. I also have an Ebel and a Michelle. I recently got the batteries replaced on both (as well as some additional work that needed to be done to the Michelle). I am making an effort to rotate all 3 watches. My Apple watch is an older generation, but it does everything I need it to.

That is the PERFECT length!

Looks VERY comfortable! Nice color with your skin tone!

From the previous curly hair talk, you can see how my hair IS very short and curly! And mostly still nearly black.

Looking through the Nordstrom sale listings, there are a number of Rothy’s available. I didn’t know they were carried anywhere other than the Rothy’s stores.

Added these in Golden Sun to my bag.

Nordstrom has been selling Rothy’s for a while. They ship directly from Rothy’s, so return policy is a bit different: only 90 days instead of unlimited time. But you can return to any Rack or Nordstrom store!

Nordstrom will also let you return Rothy’s that are on sale. I’m pretty sure that if you order direct, they are final sale.

I ordered 2 sizes and kept one. It was nice to have the option to return

I have an Ebel, too.
Haven’t worn it in years. Like I can’t recall last time.

I’m Sure it needs a new battery and hopefully it doesn’t need like a thorough cleaning of the works, too. Ugh. I should take it to jeweler and see what it needs….

But I also wear my Apple daily and almost all day long. I love it. Especially for finding my phone, and when quickly seeing who has texted me when I’m running around the house or running errands without looking at phone.

I have a couple other gold watches that I use to wear periodically but they are SO small and now my eyesight I’m sure wouldn’t even want to look at the faces to try and determine the time.

I should probably sell them? Who knows. They just sit in jewelry boxes.

All this watch talk made me remember that my gold Tissot (a Mother’s Day present from hubby, when we were newly empty nesters) needed a battery. When he asked what I wanted or Mother’s Day, I said nothing since this year I’d like to concentrate on his 70th birthday the next week. But then I said, “how about a new battery for my church watch?”. This time at the jewelry store we splurged the $25 for guarantee of 5 years (vs $12.95 we paid 1.5 years ago for 1 year guarantee). We think it’s probably the same battery, just will get replaced if it dies. Jewelry store probably likes bringing potential customers to the store.

The only reason my Ebel even got a new battery is I was loaning it to my mother. Her watch was not working and it was going to need cleaning, new battery and the movement replaced. I could spend $500+ to have her watch repaired, or put a battery in mine and let her wear it; saved me the $500. I was surprised all it needed was a battery since it hasn’t been wore for 4 years.

Cute! My other pairs of black loafers would be very upset if I brought in a new pair.

I ordered two pairs of shoes from the Rack before Easter. I ordered the size I have in the same style/brand, but in different colors. Unfortunate in that not only that they didn’t fit. one pair wasn’t even the right shoe and the color I really wanted was no longer available. Learned my lesson and will order my normal size and one size up just in case.

I have that dress in the blue pinstriped version. It arrived just before we left for a lengthy trip. I did get a chance to try it on and really liked it. Will take a closer look when we get back - but I think it will be a great choice for the summer. Love the look on you!

I like those in the teak color. I’ve been looking to reintroduce a loafer into my fall shoe rotation. Do they fit TTS?

I really like that style dress. J. Jill had something very similar last year, and I got 2 of the same dress - one was a bright blue and one was a white with blue pattern. They don’t seem to have it yet this year, but they do have similar dresses.
That color looks nice on you, but would look terrible on me.

You know , I always lean towards “color” - blues, greens, red family colors (pink, orange) - but I’ve learned that I can have those but my olive/darker skin color does well with like a terracotta or khaki green. I rarely wear white. So this was branching out a bit but I also think it will make it more versatile!

Even in the 6th decade, we are still changing and evolving!

I would LOVE one in a good cornflower blue or similar.

I agree about the colors. I have light olive skin and stray away from warm tones, although I love them. I’ll buy something in those tones if I just love the piece. Saying that, terracotta and the green you mentioned is flattering.

I’m surprised you don’t think you look good in white. Generally olive skin does.

It’s annoying how some dresses look good on others but not on me. I just bought a maxi sheath halter dress. When I got home, I had to finally admit to myself I can’t wear that style. With my long torso, my hips look too low and stand out. I have learned about the right balance of clothing on bodies and do try to fight it from time to time.
