I think with the white it’s more about I can’t keep it clean. One bite of anything and it’s no longer white!!!
I think they do. I bought my regular US size 9.
We went out with friends for Mexican food and margs on Friday night. My friend’s white jeans met up with some salsa. She said, “I should know better.”
I understand. I am cautious what I eat and drink if I have on a white shirt. Not with jeans though. I have never gotten them stained even on vacation thanks to napkins! However, depending on what I’m eating, I am cautious.
I love that dress on you, @basket!
I’m the same with white shirts/other clothes. I’m just not that tidy and snack throughout the day. There’s bound to be a pen mark, coffee drip, or jam stain somewhere within a few hours. It’s why 99% of my work shirts and pants are black
Ha! I once went wine tasting wearing a white polo and white shorts! WineAway is a marvelous product!
Just got new narrow black leather watchband from Amazon (came with a dark brown one too). I like it better than the original silicone white one. It’s not as hot under the band and looks a bit daintier.
I’m in Italy and I was just commenting to my husband how many people were brave enough to wear white. I don’t bring white bottoms traveling as they are at risk of getting dirty.
I try not to travel with light colored clothing as it’s challenging to keep clean. I love the Ex Officio solid polyester tops I bought years ago. They don’t wrinkle and things come off of them easily, even when you pour or spill a bunch of dark-colored sauce on them. They dry quickly too. Yup, I’m messy!
Speaking of white, is it true that these days you can wear white whenever you want, or do people still adhere to what was at least once a “rule” that you can only wear white between Memorial Day and Labor Day? I think in the south people wear white more year round, but what about other places, including Europe?
I feel it’s an archaic idea. If it gets warm, I will wear white pants in May and September. Maybe October but it usually is cooler. In April I was still wearing my winter coat a lot so white doesn’t work where I live. If it was a warmer place, I would. I love a white pair of pants.
Since Europe doesn’t celebrate Memorial Day or Labor Day, I feel people wear white outside of that time frame.
Me,too. I’m in the Midwest. I start wearing white late April if it’s a gorgeous warm day. In May, I 100% start. I’ll wear thru September, too. Maybe early October if it’s a hot day.
I have to admit I struggle breaking the, “rule,” on when one can wear white bottoms. I use Easter (rather than Memorial Day) to Labor Day as my time frame.
I did not struggle with breaking it in Florida.
Many of the fashion mores from the 50’s-70’s have gone by the wayside. Most are wearing white whenever the mood hits (especially in the southern states). I don’t see much bright white in the winter months but will definitely see ecru and winter white. When I visit south Florida in the winter, I’m packing my whites.
I think off white is a year round thing now, especially with some of the monochromatic looks.
Bright white has been freed from the Memorial Day to Labor Day rule, and I take advantage of that. With that said, I struggle a bit wearing bright white in less “summery” outfits. My white flare jeans would look great with a tan cashmere turtleneck and suede boots but I never do it.
Curious what others are doing.
I think the rule about not wearing white went out awhile ago. I will wear white if the weather is warm and I don’t even think about whether it’s too early or late. Of course I now live in a state where the weather is pretty cool, so it’s kind of a non issue anyway!
I’ve always worn winter white in the cold months. When I say white, I mean bright white!
I agree with your thoughts and I have several different styles of white pants/jeans, but would be more likely to wear cream colored pants when it’s very cold. I wear that exact outfit you described though: a tan cashmere sweater, tan ankle boots, and white boot cut jeans. Go for it!
I’m sorta in!
