This is SO not you (or me).
Ironically, I recently bought this dress that looks a lot like the Quince one:
My H thinks I look like a clown when I wear loose flowing things. I tend to wear tshirt and skirt, skort, or shorts when it’s hot.
I’m more of a tailored person. D is pretty similar. She drowns in flowy things as she’s thin and petite.
I’m glad others enjoy these looks—they just don’t make me happy on me.
It may be because of my low girls and the neckline. I don’t think I’m slouching. A crew neckline also isn’t good for me.
Don’t worry about sending your dress back, Quince is making $ off me, I ordered my second one today in a more not neutral/bummer color!!!
This Madewell blouse looks surprisingly similar to the Henri blouse by Doen… but costs $100 vs $250.

This is the Henri blouse by Doen for comparison.

I did end up ordering the brown trousers from pistola that @Hoggirl showed us last week
The color is great! I don’t have anything in that color and it’s a very pretty brown and a great neutral. I think they hit me in the same spot that they do for @Hoggirl
I tried them on with a navy top and Jean jacket, it was a good fit. I would also pair them with black. I’m not sure about the cream jacket that was paired with them as I don’t usually look great in that color next to my face.
The con. The bottom is very swingy which is how they are supposed to look, it feels very odd when I’m not used to wearing wide legged cropped pants. I think a new silhouette takes time to adjust.
I think I’m going to keep them, I will mull it over but I think it will be a good addition to my wardrobe.
My hesitation is that I bought a pair of wide legged crops in a Nantucket red, I’ve only wore them once because idk. I feel like I’m wearing a flag when I try to pair them. Which isn’t the problem with brown but I wonder if it will be one of those items that I like but don’t reach for
This might be my new favorite quote from a movie I’ve started watching in Netflix. It’s new, so you may have heard it, too.
“Every opportunity…..is an opportunity to look good”.
I think apropo for this thread!
@deb22, I know what you mean about purchasing things you like and think you’ll wear, but never do. I bought a pair of teal cropped wide leg anthro pants late last summer. All intentions of wearing them and always reached for more fav outfits. After all fall and winter, the tags are still on. I sold on Poshmark and of course took a huge loss. But I know I’ll never wear them and feel guilty every time I looked at them.
Ok, I’m getting served a lot of shoe ads because I just bought a new pair of Tevas for summer…who has tried Reef brand shoes ? Often great for summer, beach, water …these I love! There are many I love! Love the white but…as I’m said me and white….. …. I think the black would also look great for summer when my legs are more tan!
My daughter has the cutest pair of reef sandals. I love them, they are very cute and very comfortable
Unfortunately my low volume foot does not work with this brand but I would recommend them based on how my daughter likes them.
She’s definitely a comfort shoe girl. Wise beyond her years
Update on the Madewell blouse I posted above. I ordered the white one just of pure curiosity to see how it compares with the Doen one I already own. It arrived today and looks like a very good dupe for the eyelet Henri by Doen! I liked it so much I bought the light blue one, too. It runs TTS and fit my not so little upper topography (34D or 36C) quite nicely. It is sheer so will be best with a flesh colored T-shirt bra.
I’d get the white ones! I bet they can be easily washed in a front loader. The trick is to throw the shoes in with a load of laundry so there will be no rattling during spin cycles!
My little kid has their sandals and wears them all the time. She said they were perfect pregnancy shoes because they were wider and comfortable.
Those Reef shoes are adorable, abasket!
Any recommendations for comfortable, simple close toed shoes or sneakers with arch support? I have a pair of hokas which are great except that they are chunky. I wouldn’t want to wear those with a skirt/dress. I have allbirds - those are comfortable but not great if I have to walk a few miles.
I have been alternating between a pair of Allbirds and a pair of Hoka solimar in white for the past few weeks in Italy. The Solimar is a less bulky look and very comfortable.
Have you tried doctoring your Allbirds with Superfeet inserts?
I love my Taos white leather shoes and they have arch support. The first trip that I wore these on to Porto I walked 20K steps in a day and they were very comfortable.
I agree with the comment about inserts. Buy a sneaker that is attractive and decent but buy it at least a 1/2 size bigger to accommodate the insert.
I understand this problem as it’s one I’m always trying to solve myself, lol. Especially in the summer when I don’t want a heavy sneaker. I’ve managed to find some Teva SANDALS that fit the bill for me, but also while I do wear a lot of skirts, dresses they are also on the casual side.
I tried a number of different styles and brands prior to my trip. I kept a pair of the Taos in canvas but didn’t find the fit comfortable enough for 3 weeks of travel for my feet. They work great for round town. I also ended up with another brand recommended upthread but I can’t recall which one and I’m not home. Zappos is great for trying lots of styles. Easy, quick plus quick returns. In the end I went with the Hoka as it was instantly comfortable. We ll have such different feet that what works for one might not work for another.
I have several styles of AllBirds but my favorite is the tree bird. I wear the, without socks. The biggest downside is I get a hole in the toe way to quick.
Same for me, comfortable for around town but not enough for a trip.
I think the kids lean into clunky.
I bought these for our cruise this fall.

Whether or not I wear them with dresses remains to be seen but I might just lean into clunky.
I don’t know if you could replace the inserts on my allbirds, I mean you can but the fit is such that they are meant for that insole and no socks.
