Dressing Young 2025

While I did wear my Brooks sneakers on our heaviest walking days in Italy, I did wear these Dr. Scholl’s white leather sneakers a good bit and wore them with long skirts. They were very comfortable and I have extremely flat feet. They looked pretty cute with a number of outfits.

I love Cariumas

Thanks for the suggestions. I have a pair of Vionic sandals that work pretty well, but I do want a second closed toe shoe. Might try the Hoka solimar or the Taos. I had bought a pair of Oofos slip on shoes but boy, those were just so uncomfortable.

@CollegeNerd67 While I also love my Cariuma, their customer service is abysmal, actually non existent. After my issues, I read reviews online, and all agree they do not respond to messages. That said, returns are easy; like Amazon, I could just drop off at my local UPS store. I received an email while still standing there that my return was received, and my credit was showing on my credit card.

I will think twice about ordering from them again.

My Taos white leather sneakers are really comfortable and have hundreds of miles on them now. I did, however, end up trying several pairs as I normally wear an 8.5 - once in a while 9 - and a regular B width. On these, I bought a 9W. Since you’re looking for comfort, you may want to experiment with fit.

If you like Vionic sandals, check their sneakers. They have similar insoles. Something like this (I had a similar pair but they are no longer available):

I own those sneakers, in white Napa.
They are pretty comfortable, but because I seem to be between sizes they’re a little complicated for me, and I haven’t worn them nearly as often as I hoped I would. I think I’ve decided I like other people in white sneakers, but I’m not so fond of wearing them myself.

These Vionic winny sneakers are on sale at Macy’s. Most reviews are positive, but I did see a number of people who complained about the quality.

I also have disliked white shoes of any type for myself; actually, I also dislike white cars! After seeing everyone in white sneakers, I decided I should own a pair, which is why I bought the Cariuma. I wasn’t willing to go all white, so I went with this instead: Women's Low Top White Leather and Suede Sneaker | OCA Low – C A R I U M A This helped me get over the all white sneaker!

When my daughter saw me with these on the first time, she complemented how I looked. This is not normal for her, so I took it as a win!

Of course, I am not seeing less white sneakers, and more colored track shoes as the go to. Of course I am a trend behind! :upside_down_face:

That’s a bummer to hear. I’ve never had to utilize their customer service but I would get frustrated by that as well.

Oooh… that’s an idea. I currently have a pair of Brooks running shoes I like (but bright blue, not waterproof). Maybe instead of using worn our running shoes for walking I should do vacation use first.

It’s 45 degrees out and raining. Except for the wind, it’s a great day for the end of May! :joy:

Decided to take a trip to a touristy town 45 minutes away, as expected it wasn’t overrun with tourists.

They have a nice old fashioned shoe store with great customer service.

The store was having an Aetrex trunk show. I bought these sandals

The sandals worked really well on my low volume feet. Because of the Velcro, I got a good fit. I also found out that I have one foot that is a whole size bigger than the other.

I am positive I will wear the heck out of these this summer and thought I would mention them for others who have hard to fit feet

Those are cute @deb922 — and importantly look comfortable!

I love those sandals and have tried them on as well as others of the brand. They are my favorite looking walking sandals. Unfortunately, every single pair hits my arch in the wrong place. I have to go with Vionics, but Aetrex is the cutest.

Thanks!

Wow - if you got those for that price, that’s awesome!
Taos has some that look similar, but they cost quite a bit more

@deb922 those are really cute sandals. As I remember, you (like me) have “low volume” feet - is that correct?

@1214mom I bought the cork color and paid full price. I supported a local business and now I know what my size is in that brand. Full price is $135 still cheaper than the Taos

@FallGirl yes! I have a low volume foot. The multiple Velcro closures really make my foot feel secure in the sandal, which doesn’t happen much.

I am sometimes a 6.5 and sometimes a 7. If I were to order online, which way should I go in this brand?

They have so many cute ones! I am encouraged that these will work for me!

I would buy the 7 or 37 European size. That’s the size I bought :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

If you notice the 6 and the 6.5 are 36 EUR, I’d definitely size up to the 37 or 7
