Dressing Young 2025

I have a short sleeved, terrycloth, zip-up robe that I like a lot in the summer. It can be used as beach coverup too. It’s absorbent and allows nice modesty (even when nothing on underneath). I like it enough that I’ve been thinking about taking it on our summer road trip. It’s handy after using an outdoor shower or staying in a big shared family condo.

I got this jumpsuit on a clearance sale recently.

What kind of shoes would you wear with it? I don’t wear any high heels - an inch or 1 1/2 inches would be the max on my dressier sandals.

Did an uncharacteristic buy of these fuchsia-pink flats. They were very comfy, amazing $7 deal (marked down on clearance rack, then 40% off.. and I had $20 credit from mailorder of 3 pair of pickleshoes… kept one pair, returned others but did not loose any credit ) Shoes: Women's, Men's & Kids Shoes from Top Brands | DSW

What would you wear with them?

I would wear these with a pair of ankle jeans and a cute summer blouse.

I think a dressy slide would look great with that.

Very nice! IMO, a dressier flat shoe or a kitten heel or a dressier chunky heel in your comfort height would be fine with it.

Denim skirt or ankle jeans (as recommended above) and a flowy top or a white tee would be my choice.

Maybe a pair of wide leg cropped pants in black, white or navy and a cute sleeveless or short-sleeved top.

Denim skirt. Ankle-length jeans or chinos. I love fuschia with olive green.
Treat them as a neutral.

Thanks for the great hints for the fuchsia flats. I wear a lot of pink but my two bright pink sweaters turn out to not really be the best shade to wear with the shoes. On Sunday I wore the shoes with a light blue skirt, white/floral top and a lavender sweater. It worked ok, but I’m glad to have some new better ideas.

The skirt is kindof a fun story. It’s a lovely light blue, lined silk skirt that was a good deal at consignment shop. Actually bought it long ago when a bit tight… “it will fit someday”. Now it’s a bit loose, but I still really like it.

My opinion with a vibrant color like that (love it!) is that they should be the “color pop” of your outfit - not competing with other colors, but paired with more solids/neutrals.

Sometimes for very casual I might like pair a red sneaker with a butter yellow top, neautral skirt. Or a yellow/blue combo.

But let the vibrant color be the :star:!!

Speaking of butter yellow I feel like it’s having a moment in clothing, accessories and decor. Anyone featuring it in their wardrobe?

I know yellow doesn’t work for many but bitter yellow is more forgiving

I would wear them with any neutral color capri, crop, or ankle length pants or jeans - black, dark gray, beige/tan, or navy. Then any shirt that doesn’t fight with the shoe color (solid, print, stirpes?)

This is just a complaint

I buy clothing items on facebook buy and sell pages. Occasionally on Poshmark but I’ve found that these Facebook groups are pretty good.

Anyone who is interested you can search for buy and sell boards for a brand of clothing you like. And are pretty certain how they fit.

I received an item today that was a real stinker. It was not in good shape, it was stretched out. Faded and the fabric was fraying.

I understand that’s part of buying stuff, it’s a lot cheaper but sometimes it doesn’t work out. Disappointed today.

Some people have no decency it seems when it comes to donating or reselling dirty or unusable clothes. Even on posh resale sites like RealReal, I see items marked as having “residue under arms” or similar things. Ugh. Why on Earth would someone not clean the piece before reselling it?! I understand dry cleaning costs $$, but geez.

There are people who just don’t care. Really take advantage of others. Is there no recourse of FB, like Posh where you can open a claim?

I ran into Kohl’s today and this dress was on the aisle. It caught my eyes, as I love red. It’s Dressing Young, as it’s actually in the junior department. The medium, which is my normal
Size, fit perfectly. Super cute summer dress. Wish it had short sleeves, but oh well. They have several other patterns if you want to take a look.

Update on the yellow Amazon robe. The color is even more vibrant than it looks on my phone. The material is 100% polyester, but it is a nice waffle type and is soft and pleasant to the touch. IMO, a keeper for my purposes (to be worn on the deck while eating breakfast or tending to my tomato jungle). Will not work as a towel replacement to absorb water after jumping out of the pool but would be a nice cover up after drying out with a towel.

And my update! I ordered this one that @soozievt posted (thank you!)

Under $30. I purchased the black since I have lots of colorful bathing suits. Good weight, a little above the knee length, easy zip. I’ve used it once this week and it did the trick!
