Dressing Young 2025

Very nice! And pockets too  I like the full zip - it gives option to step in (partial zip) or put on like a jacket. Enjoy your backyard activities in it.

When you order online what is an acceptable time to receive the order?

I ordered something , it took 14 days to get to me.

That seems excessive. It was free shopping but it was because I order quite a bit from this store

That seems fairly long, but not that surprising. I think different companies are different.
When I order from Nordstrom, it seems like I get things pretty quickly. When I order from Title 9, for example (they are based in CA), it may take longer.

Anymore it seems like if it’s more than a week that is long!

It comes down to several factors.

Where the item is shipping from. If it is shipping from far away from the delivery location, it is going to take longer.

Where the item is getting delivered. If you are near a shipping hub or at the end of a very long spoke is going to have massive impact on delivery times.

The efficiency of the system delivering it. Is it shipping via one system or is it getting shipped via multiple systems (Amazon, UPS and other delivery systems use the US Postal system for last leg delivery in many locations). The more systems a package has to go through, the longer it can take.

Did you pay for shipping or did you get free shipping? “Free shipping” deliveries are often least prioritized in delivery systems and are on a longer timeline, especially if the free shipping is based upon $$ spent (not a loyalty program like Amazon Prime).

I think we’ve all gotten very accustomed to very cheap, very fast delivery for a variety of reasons and probably shouldn’t expect that to continue indefinitely. Knock on effects from inflation, tariffs, and a changing retail environment.

I haven’t ordered from Title 9 in years but last time I did, it took a very long time. I ended up having to call and see what was up. Garnet Hill takes a while for clothing but the bathroom towels and mats I ordered recently came quickly. JCrew has been taking a while to come also.

I have my go-to’s that I know I can get quickly without having to pay for expedited shipping (Anthro, Lululemon, Nordstrom for the most part unless I am getting something that’s shipping directly from the manufacturer, Athleta/Gap ships pretty fast also). And then of course there is Amazon, Zappos, etc.

My recent order with Title 9 was fairly quick. The company I have had issues with is Soma. I like some of the products and the sales are good but shipping is slow….

My standbys are Nordstrom, Lululemon, Athleta and Evereve. All are quick. All except Nordies have brick and mortar shops a few blocks from my house so I also frequently just walk ( and do my returns).

I try to avoid Amazon and Zappos ( owned by Amazon) for reasons I won’t discuss here.

I hadn’t heard of Evereve before but my daughter sent me a few links recently. I’m glad to see it’s a legit brand. I get so many clothes and shoes ads on instagram that I don’t know if they are good places to order from.
I placed a Quince order and got it in just 4 days. I was happy since my last quince order took almost 2 weeks. I got the dress that I think @abasket linked many posts ago. The sleeveless linen, I got it in the striped. I like it, I usually get my linen dresses from Garnet Hill and the Quince seems just as nice. I also got a long sleeve linen blouse in the same stripe and a pair of chambray blue linen shorts. I’m keeping all three items which is unusual.

I’d love to see more photos of things you all have purchased recently!

Got a cute 100% cotton gauze top in blue at Costco for $13+ today. I don’t have many button down tops so think this is a nice addition to my wardrobe, especially as it’s warm most of the year around here.

I recently bought this blouse (in white) and got the chance to wear it Friday evening for an after work outing. I paired it with also recently purchased jeans below and thought it was cute! I bought several things at Chicos, I like that their pants have a bit of stretch.

My Costco does not carry XS in clothes. One worker told me other costcos do, but not ours. I’m envious

For XS, often have to be there when the item arrives and look through everything OR order online when item 1st is added to inventory. I’m a medium so usually have my size in stock awhile. D is an XS, so she feels your pain.

Wearing two of them today:

Blouse - brand is Democracy, found it on the racks at Nordstrom Rack…have not been able to find it online, thinking it is from a past year.

Shoes: Vivaia.

All cute pieces. I’ve been seeing ads for those shoes. How do they feel in the toe box. I like room to move my toes.
Question- when you wear a shirt dress or a dress with a tie belt- tie to the front or side? Bow or some sort of a knot?

Not too tight across the toes. Roomy enough for me to wear an orthotic insert in there --because ballet flats don’t play nice with my lower back,

In general, I try to avoid tie belt dresses. I have a very straight torso and I don’t want any extra bulk in that area. The few times I have worn something with a tie belt, I’ve tried to position the knot or bow over the front of my hip bone. It’s just not a great look for me. Adorable on everyone else, though.

I tie the belt both ways, depending on the garment and how to looks best. Sometimes I’ll do a loop instead of a bow and gave it rise down the side. I like that look the best.
