I don’t normally buy a dress with a tie as I don’t feel like I have a defined waist. I recently bought two dresses with tie belts when I was shopping with my daughter. One I wore yesterday and I did tie center. The other I think I’ll tie on the side.
Love the shoes!!! I’ve seen them online so often the last few weeks and have wondered about the fit and comfort.
Great outfit from head to toe.
I have two dresses with very long belt ties. (Maybe they only make one size for all sized dresses?). Usually I cross at front and then wrap around again to make small knot at back. Or similar idea with center at front, wrap around at back and bring forward to make small knot at front. I like this method because it saves me the trouble trying to make a nice bow, which usually looks bad done by my clutzy hands.
That’s an idea that might work with one of them. The shirt dress tie isn’t long enough for that.
So after complaining about buying on buy sell trade boards, I bought this dress. I really don’t have a need for this dress, I do plan on taking it on my cruise this fall where I will be better dressed than my husband
It was a fraction of the price new with tags and my size. I’m considerably shorter than the model
The color story is super pretty! Great dress. ![]()
What a pretty dress! Enjoy wearing it.
I’ll update based a quest I mentioned in Kohls thread, ordering some summer dresses while the still carry Petite sizes. The summery casual dress all ran pretty big, so I’m in a return/reorder cycle.
But along the way I picked up a spring/fall petite Kohls navy floral print dress for church etc… with great pockets - yay! Mentioning it here because hubby likes it with the fuscia flats mentioned above. (He’s really better at colors/fashion, since he was his mother’s shopping helper after she lost her eyesight in her 40s. And heck, I mostly dress for him anyway - he’s likely the only person the much notices what I wear.) The dress actually does look better with my bone or black pumps or black wedge sandals. But thought the viewers might enjoy a photo, though I see now the subtle pink in the print is not obvious. Still deciding what to do with the belt tie.

Great find! I love this style, and the colors are great.
Great shoes-dress combo!
Very nice combo!
4th of July sales are on! Bought myself a swim suit: the top is coming from HerRoom, and the bottom is flying from Glamuse (HR was out of my size). Had to throw in a bra to get free shipping from Glamuse… but I need a new one anyway! This was a more cost efficient way of buying my swimsuit. Hope both places ship the stuff!
Is there an item of clothing that you think you look good in but don’t? Or would like to add to your wardrobe but never reach for?
Mine is maxi dresses.
I see others wearing them or see cute dresses online and I think, I love the idea of a casual easy to wear item of clothing!
Then I put one on, it completely overwhelms my body. It never looks casual enough. So I change and think, I’m going to wear that dress.
I think my life is too casual. No one around me wears maxi dresses. I’m not tied to what others are wearing but idk the maxi dress just feels wrong!
With you on this, although I am not sure if it is my perception of what I look like in a maxi dress or if they really make me look dumpy or more dressed up than I would like to be.
And agree that it would be nice to be able to wear one with less effort. I don’t like short dresses any more since my knees are not pretty any more! Midis are my go to for dressy dresses these days.
Maxi dresses are always in danger of looking like they swallow-up the wearer. I can do a long dress, but I need something that hugs my silhouette more. None of the billowy or tiered maxi dresses for me. I also have horrible legs, so no mini dresses either.
Anything with puffy sleeves. I’m not sure why this trend is still around. Also the barrel jeans and pants. They look good on some of the models but I know better than to think they will translate to me
Another one for me are the big, chunky sneaker styles. I feel like I am walking on the moon or wearing ski boots!
I can wear some maxi dresses. I’m not sure what all the criteria are for why some seem to work on me and some don’t.
Often times when I try them on I feel like I’m in a nightgown. I think it’s a combo of volume of fabric and the particular print (if there is one) on the fabric. The ones I have liked are either solid dark colors or geometric prints. I think florals are more night gown-ish.
I am not tall. I think they work better on tall
Tops and dresses with no defined waist. I love the loose tanks, and sheath dresses. The tops make my waist look really long. I also don’t look good in cropped pants. The only way I can get away with them is if they are longer and I wear heels or booties.
I love maxi dresses and have quite a few. But I’m 5’8”. I’ve just recently purchased some from Cupshe and they are so pretty!!
To the maxi AND midi dress craze that I’d like to try and wear but both my body and sensory fussiness say “no” - I’ll add…jumpsuits. Looks so cute on others! I also hate anything that goes in at the waist (a sensory aversion) and many jumpsuits do.
This!! They can look adorable on models. Put them on me… not a great look.
I just never like midi anything nor bare midriffs nor anything but full length pants or shorts. I know other lengths look great on others and more power to them but it’s not a look I can handle on myself.
I have a couple of maxi dresses, but I mostly wind up wearing something else instead. I am 5’8” or so, and the ones I own are summer dresses. I think what happens to me is I decide I’m going to be too warm in “all that dress” (even though a couple are sleeveless light linen), and wind up with something else.
Something I wanted to be able to wear but just never felt quite comfortable in are leggings and a tunic, for example, outside of just wearing them because I’m coming back from exercise and have an errand to run. I think I’ve done it once, with some cute boots, but it’s not my norm.
