Dressing Young 2025

I have an old longish Fresh Produce jumper (or I guess you could call it a billowy sleeveless dress… but it is darker colors/print so not summery). Was not wearing it much. In late winter I decided to wear it with leggings under and heeled black booties. It worked well enough that I’m keeping it for a while.

I rarely wear leggings for anything either. I have two pairs that are languishing in my closet. Oh well. I have a few long skirts that I do wear but don’t wear maxi dresses or muumuus (though I used to once in awhile decades ago).

We had an EPIC leggings thread years ago here on CC with lots of recommendations and also LOTS of debate! I’m sure some CC’ers have excess leggings in their closet next to the egg cooker they bought cause of CC!

I love that egg cooker, use it once a week at least!

The leggings thread was great!

I still have some viral shoes from the inaugural Dressing Young thread!

Had no luck with the coatigan though. My size quickly sold out!

I wear leggings a lot! I do remember the early days of this thread when leggings were a controversial fashion choice.
Blazers are something that I think looks good on others but I’m not comfortable in. I find them constricting and I never feel like I’ve got the right pants or top with them.

Another thing I wish I could wear comfortably is a thin strapped top - spaghetti straps if you Will or a halter type neck. I have the arms to pull it off especially in the summer but the girls, though not huge are too generous to not wear a bra or to use a shelf bra. I have spent the big $ on a strapless bra and I see duress will wear it but am NEVER comfortable in it.

This is more of a rant than anything else.
Shorts. My queendom for a pair of shorts with an inseam longer than 4”, and many are 3”.

I have a pair from last year (Costco) that still fit; everything else is too big & I had to get rid of them. Costco’s selection this year is bad and I’m cheap. $59-$79 is just too much to pay for something that’s worn for about 2 months.

I finally found a skort, and I have a couple of dresses, so I should be ok for the year, but I’m still annoyed.

Check Old Navy or Gap. They usually have cheap(er) denim shorts.

For example:

Ask and you shall receive! And, on sale!

These have a 7” in-seam. They have a couple of other styles - one other that is 7” and another with a 5” in-seam.

Those are nice, and a good sale too. I like the front pockets plus a zip pocket. Good to see various size ranges (Regular, Petite, Tall, Plus)

Oh yeah, I am not a fan of wearing strapless or thin straps. I don’t like wearing strapless bras and find them uncomfortable so never wear anything that would need them. I don’t feel I’m missing much.

I’m never that comfortable in my strapless bra either. I just bought a padded bandeau from Amazon that is very comfortable. Can’t use it on all my dresses or tops, but enough.

J. Crew factory has inseams longer than 4”. I found a pair of shorts I really liked at 6” and had them shortened.

I bought that coatigan as a result of this thread! Had it a couple years but only wore it maybe 3 times. Seemed great but I never seemed to pick it.

It’s quite a warm piece. I still have mine, and have only worn it maybe 6 times. I consider it more a coat than cardigan, and wear it as such. It’s one of those unique pieces in my wardrobe that I pull out Infrequently. Last time I wore it was a chilly day in Chicago and we were touring outdoors.

Looks great!!!

Ok, both of my swimsuit pieces shipped today! Yay. One is on the way from France, the other is coming from Texas.

I also have two dresses on the way: one from Australia and the other from Italy!
