Dressing Young 2025

Can anyone please recommend their favorite bike shorts to be worn under shorter dresses?

I was heading to Target after I read your post the other day and ended up getting that dress in black. I definitely agree that it could be a good cover up, but it’s so lightweight and comfortable that I’m sure I’ll wear of it to one of the summer concerts in our area.

Speaking of Target dresses, I was able to get some good deals this spring thanks to my husband’s new sewing hobby. I wouldn’t have bought them otherwise since one maxi dress needed to be hemmed so I could wear it with sandals or sneakers. The other was a strapless full length blue and white striped dress that was way too long. I asked hubby to cut it off above the knee and make me a red sash, and it was perfect for our July 4th festivities.

I don’t think I knew about Farm Rio until this thread and that may have been a good thing. It’s not my typical style, but some of their things are so pretty and I love this dress. I’m looking for a dress for a high school reunion and I’m tempted by this even though I thought I wanted something in a solid color (probably red or green). I probably don’t want to spend this much, so if anyone has any other suggestions of dresses, brands or websites to check out, that would be great.

I got a new suit from them late last year or early this year, and I really like it. I got the tankini top, bikini bottom, and swim skirt. I wasn’t sure I’d wear the swim skirt much, but for beach walks it turned out to be great.

I love that dress! We went to a wedding a few weeks ago and one of the guests had on that dress. My daughter and I both commented on how much we loved it.

The original Birkin bag just sold for $8 million. Or as D2 calls it the holy grail of handbags

The article says $10.1M. Wow!!

I am not a fan of Birkin the bag. Too heavy and too utilitarian for me, but many others love it, and it is definitely a unique design.

I finally caved in and bought a used LV tote with a fun design. Equipped with a bag shaper from Amazon, it is still light enough yet very practical for me. Nope :-1: no labubus for me.

Just popped in after a few days and haven’t caught up, but I did see this last post. Did anyone watch “and just like that”, the latest episode. If you haven’t, spoiler below.

Why did they have to throw shade at Michael Kors bags? Seriously? I thought it was awful in so many ways. I think the writers were trying to show the one woman was not uber wealthy enough to know the difference between a high end bag and Michael Kors, but it really came off so wrong. Many people, including many watchers, can’t afford a $300-400 bag and that’s not particularly cheap! To make them feel stupid for being proud of their bag was so insulting and in poor taste. Whatever they tried to achieve with that scene fell flat.

I never even purchased a Michael Kors until my late 50’s and felt like that woman in the show. I was so proud to be carrying that after all my JCP bags. I was never into bags until
Then.

Since that time I have purchased several high-end bags that I love. (not Birkins or Hermes). But you know my favorite line? Yep, MK. So many styles and colors and sizes and pockets. Edgy, professional, beautiful.

Ef those writers!

Not watching the show but I totally agree! MK is well made and is luxury to many!

What is this show??

And Just Like That... - Wikipedia

Fashion is a big part of it, just like in the “parent” show.

After browsing for dresses online and then today wandering Macy’s, Nordstrom Rack, and Bloomies Outlet, I’ve determined that current fashion and my personal taste are not in accord. I wasn’t “peasant” two years ago and I’m not “boho” today. I was looking for a lightweight midi dress for next year’s trip - not too dressy, not too casual, that covers a bra, and is in colors and a pattern I like. Something that could go to dinner at unknown at present venues. Luckily I have enough in my closet to make do.

I’ll know it when I see it - and I haven’t seen it.

But I did get to see a very large in store billboard of Jeremy Allen White for Calvin Klein - yes, Chef! I want a dress the color of his eyes. Husband laughed when I showed it to him; not sure I can post it on CC…

It is a unicorn :unicorn:….

I’m also laughing at the boho and peasant style comment. So agree! I had 15 minutes to kill at the Rack today. Nothing jumped at me. But if I were one of those two, there were plenty of choices! Nope. Not for me.

It’s definitely time to move on from the peasant trend, especially those with the wide ruffle hem.

I have a hard time finding cute summer dresses I love with short sleeves. They are all sleeveless it seems. Sigh. I used to love to wear sleeveless.

Yup, I’m a classic, not boho nor peasant. Have not bought dresses latterly except for a wedding and funeral and stuck with classics.

If anyone is on TikTok, I highly recommend this content creator - I believe her name is peachesanddiesel or something like that. She recreates the crazy (and expensive) runway fashion trends with items she has laying around the house (she is great with a sewing machine and nails it every time!)

She also will go to stores like Nordstrom and try on the crazy high-end fashions there. She recently went with her mom and college daughter and all three tried on the prairie dress trend and these hideous puffy quilted vests and mini skirts. Her deadpan commentary is hilarious!

I’ve been getting her reels and she’s hilarious!

When little kid would come home for her college breaks, she would drag me into the designer section at Nordstrom and ask me to take photos of her modeling the craziest things they had! The stuff of Ugly and Expensive thread. Wonder if I can find any of those pictures…

I’m not on TikTok, but she’s also on Instagram.

So funny!
