Is always fun to find a great dress that makes you feel special!
Love that! I love a fit and flare shape. I don’t think it’s a bad price at all.
I have dark hair, but my complexion is waaaayyyy too fair to wear yellow. If that came in a bright color, I’d be all over it!
It really is! I find it very difficult to find casual dresses I like. Plus, I don’t typically like midi’s without heels, but I like this one. I know they tend is white sneakers, but I do t like that on me, plus my feet get really hot. They’ll look good with sandals.
Great dress conmama! Seems well worth it for an item you like that makes you feel great!
That dress is so cute! And you can throw a sweater over it, dress it up or down – you’ll get your money’s worth out of it.
Fwiw, I picked up a great linen dress at a thrift shop for $9 and was looking for the right belt to go with it. DH noted “The belt was probably part of the dress before it was $9.” Which is all to say, you often get what you pay for!
I am seeing a trend of Peter Pan collars for fall. Maybe they’ve been a trend for a while - idk.
I saw this denim jacket and thought it was sort of cute, but, as is the case with ruffles, tiered skirts, and poufy sleeves, I just wonder if this is too young for someone in their 60s. It just all feels so VERY young - as in elementary age/little girly looking.
What do we think?
Personally, I don’t like prominent ruffles on “more mature” women. I tiny ruffle on a small collar or cuff or placket – it could work, but bigger/more ruffles, as on this very prominent collar, would be a hard no for me. But that’s just me!
I’d have no problem wearing that at all. With your hair, it would look really cute.
I don’t think age matters. What matters is the body type. These collars do not look good on ladies with bigger chests or broad shoulders. So a hard pass for me.
We think it is very cute! We would wear it
I think the key to wearing something trendy (regardless of age or body shape), like a Peter Pan collar, ruffles or Mary Janes, is having the confidence to wear it. If you feel good in it and confident wearing it, that definitely projects in your overall look. If you feel uncomfortable or out of place wearing something, that also shows - and that’s when something might look awkward.
I’m always in awe of pictures I see of women of a certain age or a curvy body type who are wearing something trendy or something that shows some skin, and they look amazing in it because they are radiating an overall confidence in their appearance.
I really don’t like ruffles much and never have. My D isn’t fond of them either. I am happy others like them and look great in them. We all like what we like. Sometimes it’s fun to step out of our comfort zones and sometimes we prefer not to.
I broke down an ordered the Farm Rio dress that I kept eyeing for my class reunion. I was able to justify it since I got the 15% new customer discount from Tuckernuck, and I had previously ordered two pairs of pants from Anthropology but they took so long to arrive, Anthropology just refunded the total cost! Anyway, I knew that there might be way too much cleavage involved with this dress, but I think I’ve solved it with a lavender camisole. Still debating…, but I do love the color and style.
Gorgeous dress! Go for it.
Any chance a fabric insert can be used to alter the top just a tiny bit?
Yes, that might be a good thing to try. I wasn’t sure how that would work. I tried with a few different bra options and I also added an extra hook/eye (it already had one), but the fabric would pull too much if I try to close it more and it looks strange. But the insert might work, and then not be another piece of clothing to wear. Maybe I’ll do photos when I get a chance.
Such of fan of wearing color to class reunions. So many people wear black. You will stand out and look great!
It’s darling! I love it! I had my alterations lady sew the 2 edges together a few inches on a dress I bought that was low like that. Is there enough material you could do the same?
Great dress! Although it’s low, the coverage seems good. Is there anything you can do to be comfortable? Seems like the right bra (ever elusive!) might do the trick.
Gorg. A stand out.
I had to click the link and see. Agree with the others that is a beautiful dress!
