On me, nude shoes blend into my skin tone. Not everyone has the same skin tone. So if the shoes lengthen your leg, great! On me, I feel that they make my super pale skin sallow. Maybe if I got a fake tan, but mostly I’m lazy.
Also I’m a metallic person, I’ve been into a gold shoe. I feel it warms up my pasty skin tone.
Speaking of matching skin tone. Louboutin the god of fancy footwear makes a collection called Nudes. These are best sellers like pumps in 5 or so different colors matching a spectrum of skin tones.
W. Kleinberg! You can pretty much customize to exactly what you want. Great quality, so you’ll have it forever. Not cheap but if you get something classic, reasonable.
Thank you for that! It always bugs me when people refer to “nude” as though it’s a single color! (Although, as much as I appreciate the concept, it is highly unlikely I’ll be in the market for a $1095.00 high heel sandal.)
lol there are also more “affordable” kitten heel pumps that would set you back a measly $700. lol But have to give credit where it is due! Louboutin does get the idea that “nude” is not a single color.
I stopped at DSW and picked up a pair of gold sandals just to see with my green dress. Nope! As mostly everyone said, they took away from dress. Your eyes went straight to the sandals and it just looked all wrong. I’m taking them back tomorrow and waiting on my gold ASOS ones I ordered. I just ordered a couple nude ones today. When they are all in I’ll take a pic for you to see what I mean.
What I’d really like but I can’t find are open toed D’Orsay pumps in a nicer fabric like satin. I have a pair of champagne with a knot on the vamp that I purchased years ago but my feet have widened. I’ll show you those, too.
It will be fun to see the shoes with the gorgeous dress! I have had a difficult time finding fabric (satin, etc.) shoes for more formal occasions lately. I default to metallic in these situations often. I’m wearing gold shoes as MOB in September which I’m fine with but would have considered nude if I could have found one that wasn’t leather or suede. The gold ones happen to be very comfortable so that’s a huge plus.
I don’t have places to wear a lot of their stuff. But look at all the money it saves us! Great dress!
Fwiw, the things I have bought from them over the years (often on sale) have been in steady rotation and held up really well. They claim their clothes are meant to build capsules with and to be versatile, but ime, most are e a little too trendy to be true classics.
The other issue with light colored outfits like that gorgeous dress is that on ME, they are dirt magnets. I just can’t stay clean and it makes me SO self-conscious! I avoid light colors because of this—I know myself too well!
