Dressing Young 2025

It is a valid concern with cheapo belts! I will be careful. It is synthetic fabric and feels satin-ly and smooth to the touch. So fingers crossed!

I saw some pictures of similar dresses styled with chain belts and simple thin leather belts with tassels. I think we are on the right track!

I just googled baby blue belts and this popped up

Thanks!

Yup. Pantone at work.

FB ad. Good markdown. For me too long (and maybe wrinkly). But I like the style. Comes in solid and stripes - many colors.

I have this dress from Quince. While I like the style I don’t care for the fabric. I wish it was softer.

This is Quince’s regular price on the dress. Quince always displays their prices this way. Their price and the “traditional price. So it’s not a sale, just their price point!

I ordered a lightweight cotton cashmere cardigan from Quince this morning. If I like it, I’ll order more for the price point!

I have several of their pullover cashmere sweaters that I’ve been happy with. I am not a cashmere aficionado, but they’ve held up well. If you’re someone who knows quality cashmere (I’m not), I read a quick article that didn’t rate Quince’s very high. Nonetheless, they are soft and have held up well. I like it better than JCrew’s cashmere. I would never pay a premium for cashmere, so Quince’s price point works for me.

Yeah cashmere is not something I was after specifically but I wanted a lightweight cardigan and the price poo t was good as well as the reviews so figured I’d try it

I was delighted to discover that a Macy’s store I thought was gone (like others) is still there. We were killing time at that mall, and I did try on some things. There was still a small Petite area. I made no purchases, but it was nice to try on clothes at a real store.

As a fellow petite, I buy a lot from Talbots just because I can actually try on clothes that are fit for me.

It’s so frustrating to order things and return because they don’t fit, look too big for my frame or I don’t like them.

I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t look good in white next to my face. Buy a good white shirt they say. I put one on and I look terrible! Just not my color

Is there a color that doesn’t work for you?

White House Black Market has a surprisingly robust petite section in stores. Very helpful when I’m shopping for basics for my oldest daughter who is petite.

Yes! Maroon, wine, burgundy etc. I have fair complexion and those colors all make me look pasty and very pale. I was a in a wedding decades ago and my bridesmaid dress was a beautiful wine color but I had to wear tons of makeup and still looked awful.

I’m the opposite, I look great in maroon, navy, white and even a burnt orange. Any pastel on me and I look washed out. I can’t wear off white or beige near my face.

I hate myself in black - love myself in red

Yellow. Orange. Terrible colors for me

Yellows. I love the color, but it’s just not a great one for me. In the summer with a tan, less awful but not the best. And anything tinged with yellow, like olive – ugh. There’s a reason there is so much blue and white in my closet!

I gave the 100% because they look awful on me too. Not that I think you look awful, lol.

Those and also pastels look terrible on me. I like the colors, just not on me

Interesting. We actually stopped to kill time at the White House Black Market store too, based on memories of lovely saleshelp when shopping for a MOG dress (garden semi-formal). Tried on a few pair of pants, but no mention of petite. Prices are higher than I’d usually pay, but for the right pair of light summer pants I would have splurged. Alas, no luck.

Forest green and some very dark greys and navy colors make me look awful. So I avoid them altogether.

I don’t think I look good with white by my face, and now that I’m older I don’t look great with black by my face either. I am considered a winter for colors, and I used to look fine in both. Bright, or at least not too light, blues/greens/purples seem best for me.
