Dressing Young 2025

I periodically shop European retailers. This summer, I bought a dress, a few swimsuits, and some shoes. So glad I did it when I did. The issue with tariffs will be resolved eventually, prices will be higher…

I look good in “pure” tones rather than pastels & muted ones. Emerald green, wine, etc look good on me—yellow and khaki not so much.

I would not rush to look or buy anything white or gray for myself. Sometimes pastels can fall a little flat.

The white is probably more my preference not to have unless it’s just like a white top.

I very much dislike brown clothes in general, lol, I know, weird. :). But like a rust color can be complimentary. Or a tan (but not khaki).

I like tans and beige, but it works best on me for pants. Tan tops not so good on me.

I steer away from beige. Only use as a tank or cami with a jacket or blazer.

Yellows are horrible for me.

Anyone bought anything fun recently? Please share your finds!

My MIL once told me I was the only person she knew who looked good in beige. I was never entirely sure if that was meant as a compliment…

Responding to this post! I just bought the exact same J Brand pants I wore to holes and the exact same ‘S dress that I’ve worn every summer since 2015!

I bought two pair of jeans from Anthropologie, thinking that I would return one pair.

I like both! Do I return one because I don’t NEED 2 pairs of jeans?

I also bought a bunch of $15 tee shirts from Talbots when they had a 2 day sale. With a pair of $18 shorts and a $30 sweatshirt. I will cull my tee shirts from last year as I find summer tees look good for a season.

Do not return! If you love them, you’ll wear them!

If 2 jeans come in, 2 jeans need to go OUT!

(That’s my strategy)

If you were lucky enough to get 2 great pairs of jeans, keep both!

I admit, I just did the same. There was a bit of wavering, and then I remembered that ot has been 3 years since I found a pair I liked!

Yup. They don’t have to be jeans…. In my closet, an equal number of garments gets retired from my closet when new ones come in!

/grrr… I can’t type today!

I got rid of most of my jeans because I needed a bigger size. Things shifted :woman_shrugging:

I purchased these

And these

Awesome! Jeans that fit are worth the $$ and closet space!

Those are different from each other. Really, keeping both is sensible.

@deb922 -report back. I’m interested to hear what you think. I have 2 Quince sweaters ( cropped cardigan and a crew neck pullover) and have been pleased with both. I’m planning to order the cardigan in a second color.

I recently noticed that my USAA account had over 400 reward points. Just traded 400 in for 4 $100.00 Nordstrom gift cards! Woohoo!
