Dressing Young 2025

Never heard of that line so checked the website. I’m not a fan of the entire collection, but some pieces look nice.

I have a whole slew of their hair bandeaus. I’m literally addicted to them! I haven’t ordered any clothing . I haven’t ever had trouble with any of the products or shipping or anything. They have a couple big sales a year including free shipping opportunities around the holidays - maybe Black Friday weekend? I can’t vouch for any product than the bandeaus though!

I have a couple of skirts that I ordered from them a few years ago that I love. They have held up well. The items do channel a bohemian vibe (which I like) but it’s not to everyone’s taste.

The thing I liked best was that the skirts had a high quality lining which meant no need to look for a slip. The fabric is very comfortable to wear against the skin, great for sensitive skin like mine.

Reminds me too of Sundance which I loved.

I had ordered from Natural Life several years ago. The sizing was very inconsistent. I ended up giving stuff I bought for me to my smaller in size daughter and yet others that were marked the same size fit me fine. So I didn’t order again.

Here comes a fashion rant!! Why do designers all at once decided that shoulder pads must be brought back from the grave of fashion trends? Tried on a couple of very cute blazers yesterday; they would have been perfect for this fall weather, but the shoulder pads made them look awful on my 5’ 6”! Sadly, the blazers were lined, so no easy way to get the shoulder pads out. Anyone else not liking this trend?

I really don’t want to see anything from the 1980s again, lol. Such an unflattering style decade (frizzy hair, bulky, baggy, long sweaters over skinny stirrup pants, garish candy-colored plastic jewelry, etc ) :joy::joy:

Shoulder pads always just looked off. I’d often remove them—they used to be pretty easy to remove as people didn’t put them INSIDE linings. If I wanted to look like a football player, I wouldn’t bother wearing stylist clothing.

Heck, sometimes the pads were made with velcro to be removable.

Potentially dumb question but I am an old tomboy with no fashion smarts. Anyway – these Honeylove bras that are in my socials 24/7 – are they helpful or just marketing? I am finding as I age that I am unhappy with my “profile” so to speak, as gravity is winning but undergarments are made for the young; yet I don’t want my mom’s industrial strength model either.

IMO, it is intense SM marketing. If you do decide to try these, I recommend buying from Nordstrom. Easy to return if they don’t work out for you!

I personally love Prima Donna bras. They are $$$$, but they let me wear cheapo tees like they are tailored for me.

Rats. Smallest band size is 34” - I need 32”

I wear Wacoal bras. Always with a wire. Gravity is not my friend

Gravity isn’t my friend either but since covid, switched from underwire to wireless and am very pleased. I’ve bought Wacoal & Bali with no underwire from Amazon and they seem pretty decent and comfortable, with better prices than stores.

Just say no to shoulder pads.

My recommendation on bras is to not purchase any that you are fed through ads especially if the model is under 40, she has “minis” and you don’t, and maybe hasn’t breastfed as many babies as you.

I have fought the “no good bras” problem for decades but now agree that while I don’t want to pay an arm and a leg HOWEVER I do agree that going to a department store and be measured properly. A lot of us are wearing the complete wrong size of bra. You don’t have to buy there or what they recommend but give them a shot. Ask when their annual or semi-annual bra sale is.

I have found a minimizer bra recently that I like for around $30ish. So far a few months in I like it as much as my more expensive model.

I ordered a few Honeylove bras to try and ended up returning them. I have done much better with ThirdLove which offers half cup sizing. It took some back and forth at the beginning to determine my size, but once I found the right size it’s worked in several different styles they offer.

I don’t mind shoulder pads in blazers. Maybe it’s because my body type is somewhere between hourglass and pear. I think the best looking classic blazers on the market are by Veronica Beard. I own several VB blazers and jackets, all with some shoulder padding. I think they look great on me. My favorites are the Miller Dickey blazer, but I’ve never purchased a dickey for them.

I love that blazer Grits80! Tailored look is so flattering!

LOL - I still have a few things (not worn much) with minimal shoulder pads. Funny to hear they are making a comeback. I guess many things do,

Check out Third Love. They have smaller sizes (and half size cups.) For me, their t-shirt bra is a winner.

I did not realize Third Love had stores (and Belk locations) - https://www.thirdlove.com/pages/stores

In my pre-mastectomy/recon days I wore mostly Chantelle underwire. At the moment I’m n bralettes of various makes, and definitely free of underwires. I’ll have a revision surgery in December or January which should get me closer to a final-ish size and back to regular bras. The wires will not make a comeback, if I have my way.

Funnily enough, the most comfortable right now are from Uniqlo. Airism camis with built in bras and their relax bra fit surprising well and the padding is sewn in.

Just sharing a pic of what I wore to church today.

This is from that online boutique, Avara. Somehow they got into my Insta algorithm. I find their clothing to be up-to-date with trends, but in a way that is age appropriate. Some of their things are a little too puffy/Boho for my taste, but I do like many of their pieces. It is woman-owned, and shipping is prompt. Lots of cotton (though this is a blend) which I prefer over synthetics. I haven’t returned anything, but it looks like it would be easy.

Dressing at this time of year where I live is a challenge. It’s nearly October, but still pretty warm. I thought this was a nice, transitional dress. The lace/crochet isn’t as white as it appears in the photo - more cream.
