Changing shoes isn’t an option as I’m not going to my car between the trunk or treat and the concert. I’ll likely wear a dress with nicer sneakers or nice jeans with a boot and a top that can be layered. Things aren’t fancy here and you’ll see all kinds of outfits.
Got an email that Kivari, an Australian company, just opened a US distribution center. I learned about this company after falling in love with their denim dress (that was sold out in my size) when I browsed clothes at a boutique in Napa. I hunted that dress down on the web and ordered it last summer. Had to gamble with the sizing because the sizes shown are Australian, meaning 3-4 sizes “larger” than the US sizes, but I got my size right! Now I can’t get this one out of my head!
And it would ship so much faster…
Sounds like a plan! I was also thinking that if your husband is dead set on wearing shorts, you probably would want to look on a more casual side than dressy-dressy. ![]()
It’s not as if Izhak is going to see you and be annoyed! Sneakers are worn everywhere here, as you know, and shorts are year round of course. Where’s the trunk or treat?
I love that dress just my preferred style.
@Marilyn you’re right. Shorts and tennis shoes are seen everywhere. The trunk or treat we are going to is put on by the city police assistance league (I think). Different city agencies and departments decorate vehicles and have games for the kids. The fire department parks one of their vehicles on the street. It’s geared towards young kids. We have gone the last few years. It’s fun to watch the grandchildren get dressed up. I’m hoping to get a few pieces of candy from my grandsons.
I got this video on FB and I’ve never seen this look with the jeans scrunched up around the top of the boot, have you? I think she looks great, but not sure how many people could pull it off. Seems it would look better outside with a coat. Anyway, it intrigued me.
I’ve stopped adjusting my outfit to my husband’s.
Privilege of a long marriage
We went to a nice French restaurant for his birthday with his brother, his SO, my daughter and her husband
Dress was all over the place. The SO and I wore dresses. My bil wore a sports jacket over a tee. My husband wore his usual. Pants, golf shirt and his dang Patagonia nano puff that he literally wears everyday. My daughter decided on jeans, her husband wore a shirt and nice pants.
I’ve given up. Now I wear what I want. He will wear the same outfit that he’s worn for the past 30 years. ![]()
I’m going to amend what my husband wore. My daughter gave him a blue fleece that she brought back from Norway. He wore that instead of the Patagonia
Ordered this skirt last week, it’s 50% off right now. It’s really cute. I plan on wearing it with ivory boots and an ivory one shoulder top. Might add a belt.
D2 just got this coat from Old Navy. It’s a collab with designer Anna Sui. The coat is adorable on D2 and she plans to wear it when she is in Paris the first week in December with a friend.
@conmama I love the skirt!
Thanks! It’s swishes just like the photo.
Very nice! Good price, and brown is very on-trend.
conmama that skirt is amazing! Your fashion sense is inspiring (just as I’ve settled into my black-dominant capsule wardrobe…I love seeing the fun, other options!).
That brown fur trimmed coat is super cute too!
Edit to add: please share pic of skirt if you feel comfortable. Love it. ![]()
Thanks, if I can get a good pic I will!
I would have nowhere to wear some of the lovely clothes here (not complaining, I live a bit of a Plain Jane life… and rather enjoy it). But it is such fun to see the various fashions!
Yes, I looked at @conmama 's wonderful fringe skirt and tried to imagine where it might fit in my life. Stumped and sorry! I recently bought an oversize heavy blazer/light coat in a tweedy wool, and given the vibe where I live, the folks in the store were saying “Wow, that’s great! When it’s cooler, you have an alternative to a hoodie.” So love the vicarious thrill of a more stylish lifestyle!
That’s the fun of this thread. Seeing a variety of clothes that can still fit in the “not ruddy-daddy” category! There are ways to “dress young” if you dressing casually, for work or going out on the town or for formal occasions!
I love the fringed skirt but I’m sure I’d get it full of spots and worse within an hour of two of having it in my possession. I’m really bad with light colors, which is a shame because I DO like them. It’s wonderful to see what others are wearing and considering.
I discovered a denim jacket from the early 90s when cleaning stuff out of boxes, plastic bins, etc. in my basement. I wouldn’t buy a new one, but I might just wear the one I already own :). I also disposed of many items, but kept that one, and a “nice” Disney sweatshirt.
Denim jackets - the ones without too many frills and doodads - are classic! I still have and wear a couple from late nineties/early Y2K!
